The presence of internationally renowned research institutes and<br />
their strong bond with companies create a vibrant ecosystem that<br />
supports innovation in future and export-oriented sectors, such as<br />
life sciences, fashion, mechanics and electronics, as well as information<br />
and communication technology.<br />
Ticino is one of six Regional Innovation Systems in Switzerland<br />
and in the last few years has adopted a specific set of measures<br />
for innovative start-ups, aimed at supporting them through the<br />
different development phases.<br />
For instance, through a law on economic innovation, the canton<br />
financially supports start-ups admitted to the Innosuisse start-up<br />
coaching program, as well as those who successfully complete<br />
other federal acceleration programs.<br />
Moreover, Ticino is one of the two cantons in Switzerland offering<br />
special tax treatment for innovative start-ups and for investors<br />
in those companies.<br />
