INNOVATION (SPEI): Advice and financial<br />
incentives<br />
The Office for Economic Affairs and Innovation (SPEI) advices entrepreneurs<br />
and provides SMEs and startups involved in high tech<br />
industries with financial incentives for specific business projects:<br />
• Acquiring intellectual property rights<br />
• Developing new products<br />
• Improving or developing plant<br />
• Obtaining certification or homologation<br />
• Attending exhibitions or business conventions<br />
• Developing new markets<br />
In 2017, SPEI has supported 567 projects from 225 Vaud companies,<br />
for a total amount of CHF 4.8 mio.<br />

ATELIERS DE RENENS, HOSTING THE SWISS BRANCH OF THE ACCELERATOR MASSCHALLENGE<br />
Masschallenge is located at Les Ateliers de Renens, a very dynamic and startup-friendly accelerator.<br />
INCUBATORS AND INNOVATION PARKS:<br />
TAILOR-MADE SERVICES<br />
Six innovation parks and incubators are located in the Canton<br />
of Vaud. They are designed to encourage synergies between<br />
determined innovative companies within a given geographic<br />
area by pooling local infrastructure and technical skills. They<br />
are thus an excellent springboard for innovative projects.<br />
• EPFL Innovation Park and its incubator “Le Garage”:<br />
targeted for high-tech companies.<br />
• Biopôle: targeted for life sciences companies, offers a startups<br />
incubator and fosters inter-organisation collaboration<br />
and innovation.<br />
• Y-PARC and its co-working space: targeted for companies<br />
involved with R&D and/or manufacturing.<br />
• TecOrbe: targeted for companies active in the cleantech<br />
sector or engaged into sustainable development.<br />
• Technopôle de Sainte-Croix: targeted for companies active<br />
in additive manufacturing, micro manufacturing and micromechanics.<br />
• Ateliers de Renens: targeted for companies in Social Innovation,<br />
education and design.<br />
