The West Melton rider took out the 4* class in the two-day event at the National Equestrian Centre in McLeans Island on Sunday. She is now chasing more honours on the horse over spring, with the South Island three-day event on her radar in just under a month. She was pleased with her thoroughbred, especially after he followed on from two classy performances in the dressage and show-jumping phases on Saturday. “The rain didn’t worry him (on Saturday),” she said. “He was as happy as, he felt really confident. (On Sunday) I didn’t go fast at all and he was awesome. He jumped really well and he feels absolutely fantastic.” Cammock, who is in New Zealand’s high performance potential squad, recently had lessons with high performance eventing coach Jeff McVean. “While he didn’t tell me anything massive, he made me realise that I knew in my own mind what I wanted to achieve,” she said. “I just needed someone on the DOMINANT: West Melton rider Emily Cammock was in good form on Shaw Lee over the weekend. Top results at world champs for Sewlyn para-swimmer • By Jacob Page CELYN EDWARDS earned two top eight international rankings in the World Para-Swimming Championships at the London Aquatic Centre. The 18-year-old, who trains with the Selwyn Swim Club and was New Zealand’s flag-bearer at the opening ceremony, swam a personal best to finish sixth in the final of the men’s 100m S8 backstroke with a time of 1min 12.94sec. He backed that up with eighth in the 100m S9 butterfly final in a time of 1min 09.03sec. The championships finished on Monday. Edwards, who lost an arm in a car accident when he was five, was disqualified in the 200m individual medley heat due to a technicality on his transition to breaststroke when he was on pace to be ranked ninth in the world. While he missed out on the final of the 100m breaststroke, his time in the heat of 1min 23.50sec saw him ranked 14th in the world.
