My family and I recently returned to New
Zealand, and I joined the Lincoln VetEnt team
at the start of this year. Since my graduation
from Massey University in 2002, I have been
fortunate to care for a wide range of animals
in many countries, as far afield as Mongolia
and as tropical as Samoa. Outside of vet life, I
enjoy making the most of local bush walks, playing
ultimate frisbee, and curling up in the sunshine with a
good book.

After qualifying from Edinburgh Vet School, I
have been working and living in the district for
over 20 years. Working mainly at Leeston I
have a strong focus on communication and
getting to the bottom of your pets’ problems.
With support of the Leeston team we do our
best to keep your animal’s health good. I live
just outside Southbridge with my husband and
two teenage children, 3 cats and have recently
added a puppy to the mix. When I am not working I
enjoy gardening, tramping and kayaking.
KyLeah traBer
I graduated in 2016 from Massey University, and
since then have been working as a companion
animal veterinarian in Christchurch. I joined
the VetEnt team in May 2019, and love
working at both the Leeston and Lincoln
clinics. I also work at the Christchurch After
Hours Centre and have a particular interest
in emergency medicine and surgery. When I’m
not working I spend my time working on craft
projects and hanging out with my cats.
Katharine duFaur
Having worked in small animal veterinary
practice in various clinics in England, Auckland,
Christchurch and Tauranga, I now enjoy
working at VetEnt Lincoln and treating the
wide range of animals that come into the
practice. There is a great team of nurses and
staff, who make the sometimes challenging
work of treating sick animals easier. Living in
Halswell with my husband and two sons I try to
make the most of the outdoor life Christchurch has
to offer. The port hills are a fantastic place for a bike ride or hill walk and, as
a family, we love to get to the mountains to ski, except the boys now beat me
down the slopes!

ashLey Whitehead
Originally hailing from sunny Florida, I have
been working as a mixed animal veterinarian
in Ashburton for the past year. My partner
and I recently relocated to the Selwyn area
for his work. As a mixed vet working over the
clinics you may meet me at Leeston clinic on
a Monday or Tuesday in the companion animal
space or out in the area out on farm. I enjoy
getting to work with different people and animals
and love the diversity of my job! When not at work I
can be found traversing the wild mountains by foot or cruising around on my
bike. I love being outdoors and exploring this amazing world with my Grinchshoe
wearing companion, Honey.

Leesa anderson
I’m one of the large animal vets and after
graduating I worked for a couple of years
in a majority dairy practice, and then went
overseas for 18 months with my partner
(now husband). After working in Wales and
Somerset, travelling around Europe/UK we
came back home to settle down and I have
now been working for VetEnt for the last three
and a half years. I now have a 20-month-old son
who keeps me very busy in the afternoons but is
such a rewarding wee character.
ann WiLKinson
I joined the clinic nearly two years ago. While I
originate from the area, I have just returned
after spending time working in the animal
health industry overseas, focusing mainly on
the dairy industry. I live in Christchurch with
my two teenage kids, a dog, two cats, and two
guinea pigs.
CiPrian (ChiP) Verdes
I began working at the Darfield clinic 18months
ago and enjoy helping out over the Selwyn area
supporting the Lincoln and Leeston clinics.
Before joining the VetEnt team I worked in
Ashburton and Dunsandel as a vet for 9
years. I have enjoyed working over the region
because there is so much diversity in the
breeds of animals as with lifestyle block owners
as compared to mainly dairy farms, therefore
I enjoy the variety. Home is Romania where I
studied veterinary before coming to NZ in 2002 to gain
experience. I currently live in Rolleston with my young family.
marCus tayLor
Rock-climbing, surfing, jiu-jitzu, playing the guitar
and travelling - these are a few of my favourite
things! When I’m not extracting the slimy spring
glories from their mammas, chasing alpacas and
trimming curly toenails; you’ll find me doing
social work in Brazil, swinging from a tree,
purple-faced trying to escape a rear-naked choke
or playing with my cute nieces at Sumner beach.
I’ve loved animals since I could reach a chubby arm
out and grab my obliging cat’s tail. The late Steve Irwin
has always been a great role model of mine because of his
passion and great heart for animals. See you in the race, Jase!
roB dunBar
I’ve been working as a veterinarian since the
mid-80s, starting first in Wanaka before
working in the UK. I work predominantly
as a production animal vet, sharing my time
between mid-Canterbury and local Selwyn
clients. After living in Ashburton for many
years I moved eight years ago to Tai Tapu with
the family and our menagerie of sheep, alpacas,
goats, pigs, and Ernest the Highland steer.
