The Vine Run, on January 28, 2020,isinits thirdyear. Organisers have addedan 18km option for moreserious athletes. The 18km challenge starts at 8.30am.Ittakes in some of the neighbour’s property and has viewsover theWaipara Valley and out to sea. OrganiserMike Donaldson says the extra distance has been added to appeal to a broader and more competitive rangeof athletes.Itisopen only to runners. However,the 6km and 10km walk/runs will cater for all otherlevels of fitness and offers people the chance to have abit of fun, dress up, or form agroupand enjoysome team bonding. Mike says the start time for both of thesecourses has been broughtforward halfan hour to 9.30am in abid to avoidthe heatofthe day. But, aside from the 18km eventand the earlier start, little has changed, he says. All proceeds willgotothe New ZealandBrain Research Institute,with $26,000 being donated last year, and $18,000the first year the eventwas held.
