IT’S TIME FOR THE SPRING FLING
Spring Fling 2019 Poster.indd 1
For the ninth year running, people will again flock to the
Ellesmere Spring Fling.
The Ellesmere Spring Fling is the crème de crème of fetes.
Held in the most beautiful garden – David Hobbs’ award
winning Broadfield Garden – this is no ordinary affair.
“The Spring Fling is a wonderful day out,” says Janice
Burnett who is Chairperson of Community Care Lincoln.
Whether you are a keen gardener wanting inspiration,
looking for quality items to enjoy or tuck away for Christmas
or simply keen on having a good time, this event promises
plenty.
Wander through the diverse garden and around the superb
gathering of stalls selling everything from fresh produce,
food, drink (wine and beer will be available), artisan arts
and crafts to plants. Find a place to relax under the shade
of a tree or bask in the sun listening to live music while
partaking of a snack, lunch, Devonshire tea or beverage.
David Hobbs, whose garden fills ten acres and is of such
a high standard that it has both national and international
recognition, will once again offer garden tours. You will
have the chance to learn about the plants growing at
Broadfield Garden while garnering some green thumb tips
from the expert himself.
With the focus this year on gardening, you will be inspired
by the marvellous gardens David has created and have the
chance to learn more about gardening with demonstrations
presented by horticultural experts.
“We’re so happy to once again have Intelligro as our
principal sponsor,” says Vanessa Thompson, organiser of
the Spring Fling.
She advises that the Intelligro team will be there to help
with any queries and give people advice about what they
should be doing in their gardens at this time of year.
As sole fundraiser for Community Care Lincoln, the
Ellesmere Spring Fling is fully a volunteer affair.
Special thanks can also be given to the amazing support
of Ballantynes, Lincoln New World, Paper Plus Hornby,
Academy Signs, Susan and Tony Faulks, the Selwyn District
Council and Pub Charity Limited.
“We’re really grateful for the on-going community assistance
we receive and the work done by Lincoln Rotary members
who help in so many ways on the day,” adds Janice.
As usual, Future Leaders from Lincoln University, local
exercise and walking groups and Community Care’s
own staff, board members and volunteers will all be there
helping make it a fun day for all.
The Ellesmere Spring Fling is a country garden experience
not to be topped. It will be held this year, on Sunday, 6th
October from 11am until 4pm at Broadfield Garden, 250
Selwyn Road, Broadfield. Tickets can be purchased prior
to the event for $15 from Ballantynes, New World Lincoln,
Intelligro, Paper Plus Hornby and at Community Care or
online at Eventfinder. Gate sales will be available on the
day at $20 for an adult with children free.
