How to Choose the Right Paint and
Color for Your Home
Building your dream house is not an easy task;
painting your dream house is a whole different
story. The color of both your exterior and interior
walls says a lot about the vibes of your entire house.
But while it is easy to look at the broad array of
color options in the hardware store, picking the best
ones to fit your house might not be as easy.
Whether it’s your first time or your second, the
paint job is not always a piece of cake. But you need
not worry about that anymore. Here are a few tips
and tricks to help you in decorating
(or redecorating) your home.
Pick your room color starting from the
largest and most centrally located room.
The biggest part of the house is always a great place
to start imagining what your color palette would
look like. It can be either your living room or
kitchen. A soft, neutral hue for this room, like the

When the air conditioning system in
the office is faulty, you must decide

Dealing with Heating,
Ventilation, Air Conditioning,
and Refrigeration (HVACR)
systems is always paired with
dealing with data security,
especially if your system is
automated. The HVACR
industry has slowly geared
towards the use of smart
HVACR devices, which can
basically connect to the cloud
and allow users to control the
gadgets remotely with any
smartphone application or
web browser. It has grown to a
staggering rate of 8.22%, and
by 2020, we can see more of
these wireless thermostats and
remotely accessible HVACR
gadgets anywhere in
the market.
Although it is a good indication
of the advancement in
technology, it also holds a
weak point. Today, large
facilities and retailers often
hire third-party HVACR
companies to install and
monitor their building
temperature and energy
usage. This practice sure
reduces operational costs

security plan
To develop an HVACR security
plan is to ensure the security
of your network, most

security plan should include

building automation system

an internal support staff that
will be trained by the

accessing your HVACR
systems. Ensure where they

their job is. Inquire if the
vendor has independent
contractors who would be
coming in for specific
services. The fewer people
and parties involved, the
better is the security.
Ask vendors about HVAC
security practices
Although some HVACR
companies are not new to the
business, most of them are still
unaware of the security risks
their devices impose on the
client. This is the exact reason
why being vigilant is
imperative. Gather information
on the company’s policies on
keeping your data safe. Also,
ask how they monitor their
employees to be sure they
are following the standard
operating procedures. It is
also a must to review your
current practices, as well as
the vendor’s. This way, you
can ensure that you will not
have any problems with a
data breach.

Carrier Transicold Helps Expand Food Bank
Reach in Southwest Arizona
The gift of an X4 Series Model
7300 trailer refrigeration unit
from Carrier Transicold is
helping to significantly expand
the Yuma Community Food
Bank’s “War on Hunger” in
southwest Arizona. The
refrigeration unit, which will
be used to transport and cool
nutritious fruits, vegetables and
other food products, was
provided through a grant from
parent company United
Technologies Corp. to aid food
banks in the Feeding America
network. Carrier Transicold is a
part of UTC Climate, Controls
& Security, a unit of United
Technologies Corp. (NYSE:
UTX).
“I can’t tell you how exciting this
is for us,” said Shara Merten,
president and chief executive
officer, Yuma Community Food
Bank. “When something this
spectacular happens, we really
appreciate it.”
Installed on a 53-foot trailer, the
X4 Series refrigeration unit will
enable the food bank to double
its geographic reach, extending
beyond Yuma County into La Paz
County to the north, a combined
10,000 square-mile region with
a population of about 227,500.
Additionally, since the
refrigeration unit is compliant
with strict emissions
requirements of neighboring
California, the refrigerated trailer

can be used to collect food from
that agricultural region and
participate in food exchanges
with southern California food
banks, something the Yuma
Community Food Bank was
unable to do with its existing
equipment.
“We are exceedingly grateful to
have been a part of this project
with the Yuma Community Food
Bank,” said Alex Juarez, business
development manager, CT Power
of Phoenix, the Carrier
Transicold dealership that
installed the refrigeration unit
and helped source the trailer.
“Through this initiative, the food
bank can continue its mission to
relieve hunger among countless
families throughout
southwestern Arizona.”
The combined unemployment
rate for Yuma and La Paz
counties is well above the national
average, and 20 percent of the
families here are food insecure.
Merten estimated that the value
of the Carrier Transicold
refrigeration unit equates to an
additional 205,200 meals that can
be served by the Yuma
Community Food Bank. Each
year, citizens classified as
“working poor” make more than
200,000 visits to their food bank.
“As Carrier Transicold focuses on
helping emerging nations
develop their cold chains as a
means of getting more
perishable food to hungry
people while reducing waste
and the excess carbon emissions
created, we recognize there are
needs in the U.S. as well. That’s
why we support Feeding America
and its member food banks,” said
Jon Shaw, director, Global

Sustainability, Carrier Transicold
& Refrigeration Systems.
In 2017, Carrier Transicold
announced the program in
support of Feeding America
network food banks across the
U.S. The grant, which was
renewed for 2018, covers the cost
of the equipment and installation
of truck and trailer refrigeration
units for individual food banks
in the Feeding America network.
Beyond Arizona, the program
has helped more than a dozen
food banks covering parts of
Connecticut, New York,
Pennsylvania, North Carolina,
Florida, Louisiana, Michigan,
South Dakota, Nevada, Utah and

Leased through SeaCube Containers, the innovative natural refrigerant units will help MSC
expand its reefer capability with the most advanced technology available
MSC Mediterranean Shipping Company, a global
leader in transportation and logistics, will lease
2,000 containers chilled by Carrier Transicold’s
innovative, natural refrigerant-based NaturaLINE®
refrigeration system. The first of its kind, the
NaturaLINE unit solves the problem of how to use
refrigerants effectively and efficiently – to transport
valuable items such as perishable food and
pharmaceuticals – while helping to protect the
environment. The system utilizes repurposed
carbon dioxide (CO2), the refrigerant with the
lowest global warming potential (GWP) among
all container refrigerants currently in use. MSC’s
new refrigerated containers – all 40-foot high-cube

models – are being leased from SeaCube
Containers LLC. Carrier Transicold is part of UTC
Climate, Controls & Security, a unit of United
Technologies Corp. (NYSE: UTX).
“The NaturaLINE unit’s innovative use of CO2 is

The ability to achieve minus 40 Celsius was
previously only attainable in container systems
using a refrigerant with a GWP nearly 4,000 times
higher. The NaturaLINE unit has managed this,
along with high efficiency, a quiet operation and
tight temperature control.
“We commend MSC and SeaCube for their
investment in environmentally sustainable
refrigeration equipment,” said David Appel,
president, Carrier Transicold & Refrigeration
Systems. “The NaturaLINE unit, with CO2
refrigerant, takes users directly to an end state by

Carrier Transicold recognized the need for
refrigeration technology that would neutralize

won’t continue to enjoy in-person casino floors, but it does mean
casinos that want to continue thriving may have to emphasize other
aspects of their appeal. And the things not even the best of the best
online platforms can compete with are atmosphere and physical
impact.
To some extent we’re already seeing casinos acting on this. There does
appear to be more emphasis being placed on live attractions, from
shows to restaurants run by celebrity chefs. And some of the newer
casinos in places like Las Vegas are clearly built with beauty and
luxury as the first priorities, and gaming merely a feature. These
trends, subtle though they may be, are likely to continue, and the
thinking here is that they can be enhanced significantly by bold and
exciting engineering projects.
To explain this idea, look back at a previous post you may have seen
here regarding Dubai’s push to attract more tourists. The famously

innovative city is constructing the world’s largest ferris wheel,
adding yet another engineering marvel to an impressive list that’s
been amassed over a relatively short time period. Now think about
this in the context of attractions like The Venetian Macau’s artificial
canal network, or the miniature New York City at the New York, New
York in Las Vegas, or even the sky-scraping infinity pool at the
Marina Bay Sands in Singapore. All of these are effectively
engineering and design achievements that have come to define
casinos already, and in some cases entire towns!
This, given all of the digital takeover potential described above, is
what casino owners and operators will need to be thinking about in
the next five, 10, or 15 years. Just another casino resort - even a
beautiful and luxurious one with a massive gaming floor - is
unlikely to offer much specifics appeal to the modern gamer who’s
used to digital convenience and sees nothing special in an in-person
slot machine or poker table. However, what if a new Vegas
establishment hired an engineering team to beat out Dubai’s new
ferris wheel? What if a major European city challenged the highest
skyscraper in its country with a new casino resort? What if a country
built an artificial island incorporating ferry service to a faux-tropical
casino venue? These features and attractions can still make an impact
that online gaming can’t match.
It’s for this reason that we might expect a significant push toward
innovative and daring engineering in this particular space.
