Carrier Transicold Helps Expand Food Bank<br />

Reach <strong>in</strong> Southwest Arizona<br />

The gift of an X4 Series Model<br />

7300 trailer refrigeration unit<br />

from Carrier Transicold is<br />

help<strong>in</strong>g to significantly expand<br />

the Yuma Community Food<br />

Bank’s “War on Hunger” <strong>in</strong><br />

southwest Arizona. The<br />

refrigeration unit, which will<br />

be used to transport and cool<br />

nutritious fruits, vegetables and<br />

other food products, was<br />

provided through a grant from<br />

parent company United<br />

Technologies Corp. to aid food<br />

banks <strong>in</strong> the Feed<strong>in</strong>g America<br />

network. Carrier Transicold is a<br />

part of UTC Climate, Controls<br />

& Security, a unit of United<br />

Technologies Corp. (NYSE:<br />

UTX).<br />

“I can’t tell you how excit<strong>in</strong>g this<br />

is for us,” said Shara Merten,<br />

president and chief executive<br />

officer, Yuma Community Food<br />

Bank. “When someth<strong>in</strong>g this<br />

spectacular happens, we really<br />

appreciate it.”<br />

Installed on a 53-foot trailer, the<br />

X4 Series refrigeration unit will<br />

enable the food bank to double<br />

its geographic reach, extend<strong>in</strong>g<br />

beyond Yuma County <strong>in</strong>to La Paz<br />

County to the north, a comb<strong>in</strong>ed<br />

10,000 square-mile region with<br />

a population of about 227,500.<br />

Additionally, s<strong>in</strong>ce the<br />

refrigeration unit is compliant<br />

with strict emissions<br />

requirements of neighbor<strong>in</strong>g<br />

California, the refrigerated trailer<br />
