Paintings capture nature<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong> painter Debbie<br />
Lambert captures<br />
nature in the raw in a<br />
new exhibition just<br />
opened at <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />
Art Gallery.<br />
Called Nature<br />
Revealed, the landscape<br />
artists reveals 11 large oil<br />
on canvas works, including<br />
natural beauty at<br />
Staveley, Rangitata,<br />
Glenorchy and the West<br />
Coast.<br />
There are also oil<br />
paintings featuring<br />
Mesopotamia and Stony<br />
Bay, in the Coromandel.<br />
Mrs Lambert said<br />
water featured in all of<br />
her exhibition works.<br />
She had painted scenery<br />
from locations ‘‘that<br />
touched her heart’’.<br />
All works were new<br />
and had been completed<br />
in her studio.<br />
It is the first solo<br />
exhibition in the new<br />
gallery for the artist, who<br />
has been painting for<br />
more than 30 years, and<br />
also enjoys painting<br />
watercolours.<br />
Mrs Lambert and four<br />
fellow artists have successfully<br />
applied to hold<br />
an exhibition in Parliament’s<br />
Bowen House<br />
gallery next year.<br />
The April exhibition<br />
will have the general<br />
theme of Uniquely New<br />
Zealand.<br />

travelling to 24 destinations<br />

The team of ‘chefs’<br />
gave away freshly made<br />
Wattie’s Spaghetti or<br />
Baked Beans toastie’s<br />
considered ‘‘a quintessential<br />
part of Kiwi<br />
life’’<br />
They were also filling<br />
their tip jars for KidsCan<br />

Ceremony for industry<br />
training graduates held<br />
IndustryTraining Graduates have had<br />
their achievements celebrated during a<br />
graduation ceremony hosted by the<br />
<strong>Ashburton</strong>District Council.<br />
The ceremony, held at the <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />
Trust EventCentre, recognised the new<br />
graduates’positive contributions toward<br />
local organisations.<br />
Becoming an IndustryTraining<br />
Graduate involves studying while working,<br />
either to improve existing work skills or to<br />
gain new skills. <strong>Ashburton</strong> mayor Neil<br />
Brown said ‘‘we are very proud to<br />
recognise the outstanding achievements of<br />
our local Industry Training Graduatesand<br />
would like to congratulate them on their<br />
dedication to improvingtheir skills.’’<br />
The Industry Training work/study<br />
scheme is made available throughthe New<br />
Zealand Industry Training Organisation,<br />
the Mayor’s Task Force for Jobs Initiative<br />
and the <strong>Ashburton</strong> District Council.<br />
The study topics available are suited to<br />
those in many workplaces, from<br />
construction to agribusinessmanagement,<br />
hairdressing, water reticulation, wool<br />
harvesting, horticulture and more.<br />
