Pego Golf Society
Stableford Competition
PEGO Golf Society held a Stableford
competition at Oliva
Nova golf course, on Tuesday
12th November.
It was a cold, but fair, morning
for this tournament, and all 34
players booked in as usual with
our playing team of Bill Pike,
Brian Barden and Malcolm Wise.
We were delighted to welcome
our only guest today, and that
was Gary Quaife.
In the “Nearest the Hole” competition,
at the fifth hole, the
winner was Malcolm Cannon
with 3.28 metres, and at hole 16,
the winner was Brian Barden at
1.52 metres.
There were three two’s today,
and they were by Shaun
O’Gorman at hole 16, Brian
Barden at hole three, and Brian
Barden, again at hole 16.
In the main event, the winners
were as follows:
• Malcolm Cannon 37 points
• Paul Sankey 35 points
• Shaun O’Gorman 34 points
• Steve Crossan 34 points
In Division 2, the winners
were:
• Brian Barden 38 points
• Fiona Sankey 36 points
• Brian Baybut 32 points
• John Nicol 31 points
Well played to Brian Barden,
who has almost won every prize
that was on offer. A great result
for him!!!

Pego Golf Society and we are
playing a Pairs Betterball. All

WEEK 12
A FULL Premier League
at the weekend gave the
Alfaz Fantasy Football
League a total of 28 goals,
four clean sheets, 38 yellow
cards and one red
one, which was Watford’s
Kabasele who received his
marching orders from Referee
Andre Marriner, in the
Friday Night game.
The pantomine seaon
has started early with VAR
taking centre stage by not
awarding penalties and disallowing
perfectly good goals.
I said before the season
started there would be a lot
of controversy and there certainly
is. Personally, I would
rather go back to the referees
making the decisions because
nine times out of ten
VAR goes with the referee’s
anyway (rant over)!
Chris’s team, Promotion
Again, became the sixth side
to reach the top of the Alfaz
ALFAZ FANTASY FOOTBALL LEAGUE
Fantasy Football League
this season, when they took
over from Kapur’s team, Napali
Eleven, who had led the
league for the last five weeks.
Martin’s Marauders moved
into second place and are 11
points behind the leaders.
Bill’s East Fifers moved
up three places to fourth
and have been making good
progress in the last few
weeks.
Down at the very foot of
the table, Lyn’s Handbrake
City remain over the trap
door and are now six points
away from Romeo’s team,
My Dad Supports Liverpool.
We have a new leader at
the top of our Mark Carter
Ladies Section, where Annette’s
team, Hairnette, top
scored in this Division with
41 points, which helped
them replace Isobel’s Bluebells
at the summit. Her
three Leicester players -
Pereira, Maddison and the
inform Jamie Vardy - clocked
up 23 points of her tally.
At the other end, Lyn’s
Handbrake City are going
for a double Wooden Spoon
as they trail Gil’s Kippax by
14 points.
Luca’s Lucky Red F.C. are
taking a firm grip at the top
of our Junior League as they
have opened up a 22 point
gap over second placed Harley’s
Ginger Ninjar.
It’s a bit early to be handing
out the Wooden Spoons,
but it’s fair to say that Romeo’s
My Dad Supports
Liverpool is odds-on to finish
bottom of the section as
they are now a massive 55
points adrift of William &
Henry Two.
There is no change at the
top of our Champion of Champions
League as Martin’s
Marauders have increased
their advantage at the top
over Wade’s Alli Barber to 20
points.
Max & Paddy and Pauline’s
Vodka Army are in
third and fourth place, then
comes Bob’s Real Mayid.
Gil’s Kippax have been at
the bottom for the last eight
weeks, but things could
change as they are now
within two points of Luna’s
Liver Birds.
Chris’s Promotion Again
took over the number one
spot in our Across the Costa’s
Golden Boot League.
They have a single point
lead over last weeks frontrunner
Martin’s Marauders.
Bill’s East Fifers continued
their good run of form
by moving up three places to
third.
Terry’s team, Could it be
this Year, are still holding
everybody else up at the bottom
and are still five points
behind Mark’s Inter Rubber.
We have two more teams
to go into the hat for our
Monthly Wine Draw and
they are our top scoring
team, which was Chris’s Promotion
Again, with 45 points
and our lowest scoring team,
which was Treble Without
Applause, who only managed
a single point.
The October winner was
Eric’s City Slickers (well it
was my birthday last month!)
Manager of the Month for
November is being kindly
sponsored by Gary and Nikki
at the Drunken Duck, in
Alfaz, who provide a good
old English breakfast and a
super Sunday roast, as well
as serving up other excellent
homemade English dishes.
With two weeks gone, two
points seperate the top three.
Currently, Promotion Again
have a fragile one point lead
over Peaky Blinders, who also
have a one point advantage
over Alli Barber.
Just below the top three
are East Fifers, Martin’s Marauders
and Realco A Team,
all in with a chance of winning
this super meal for two
at the Drunken Duck.
The two replays in our
K.O. Cup took place last
weekend, which saw City
Link beat Unbeleivable Tekkers
15-8. The other replay
was won by Kerry’s Penfold
Puffins, who beat fellow lady
manager Rachel’s team,
Blue Murder, 15-7.
