Dubrovnik,
FROM the moment you
arrive in this fascinating
city, Dubrovnik’s charm
pulls you in.
Whilst some cities don’t live
up to their hype, Dubrovnik
really is as beautiful as its
photos. The luscious green
and blue waters that surround
the city provide plenty
of activity and entertainment,
or simply a relaxing
environment.
Enjoy an excursion of a
three island boat trip, go
kayaking, visit the stunning
island of Hvar or many of the
other popular islands.
You will never be at a loss
for things to do and places
to see from Dubrovnik, the
world-famous ‘’Kings Landing’’
for those who are a
Game of Thrones fan, but
even if you are not a fan
this spectacular city is well
worth a visit.
Simply taking a walk
around the old town and
the city walls will take your

breath away, one of reason
why Dubrovnik qualifies for
UNESCO listing, it will take
you around an hour or so to
make the full circuit along
the battlements, stopping to
take in the panoramic views
along the way.
You may well get lost in
the Old Town while exploring
(I know I did many a
time!), the charming little
twisting streets and alleys
of Dubrovnik will have you
discovering mouth-watering
restaurants, sweet shops
and many other fascinating
shops to get a souvenir from.
Depending on where you
stay (and how fit you are),
this can dictate where you
will stay. Some of the accommodation
set on the hillside
have the best views of the
town, but be warned the walk
back can sometimes prove to
challenging (we got a
taxi on a few occasions!).
If you decide to stay somewhere
slightly easier to get in
and out of the town then don’t
pass up the chance to travel
on the cable car, this will take
you to the crest of Mount
Srd which looms 412 metres
above the city and undoubtedly
has the best views over
the city and beyond.
There are plenty of
churches, monasteries and
curious monuments of the
old town, including the city’s
Cathedral which is most definitely
worth a visit, it is one
of Dubrovnik’s large ensemble
of baroque architecture,
the interior artworks are a
must see.
If you have time, take a
day tour to Kravica waterfalls,
this tour typically also
includes a visit to a quaint
town in Bosnia called Mostar,
where you can enjoy
some of the local food, shop
at the many bazars and also
discover the UNESCO-listed
Old Bridge area.
But first you will visit the
stunning Kravica Waterfalls
where you can sightsee and
swim at your leisure.
Or take a tour to the Blue
Cave - a tour on a boat that
will take you to the most
beautiful underwater caves
and some of the best hidden
snorkelling areas around
Dubrovnik.
On sale in local travel
agents and hotels, there are
plenty of excursions offering
you the best way to explore
the area.
And as for nightlife! At
night there is an abundance
of bars and restaurants to
explore, one in particular
located on the outside of the
city wall called the Buza Bar
(although I imagine there
are many other similar ones
as well). A hidden gem, this
bar is difficult to find, but
once you are in, be prepared
to chill in an exclusive setting,
cocktail in hand and
stunning sunset to watch.
Well worth the effort of finding
the door to this little secret!
Dubrovnik is connected to
Alicante by flight which connects
in Barcelona. It is also
