upgrade
The clubhouse and amenities
block next to North Narrabeen
rockpool has been significantly
upgraded by Northern Beaches
Council in time for the
busy summer swim season.
Work commenced in March
2019 and was completed in
September this year. The
detailed refurbishment
involved upgrading the
men’s and women’s toilets
as well as the addition of
an accessible amenity and
at least one person they know
who is going through a hard
time. Director Kimberly
Clouthier said every entry
was either about helping
the environment or helping
people – “It was really heartwarming
to see such selfless
proposals.” The two top
teams were Austin Turpin, 15,
and Lucas Farrugia, 14, who
pitched their business idea of
family change room. The
swim club on the upper
floor was also refurbished
to provide a new kitchen and
undercover outdoor BBQ area,
with additional room for
storage and office space. A
refreshed external appearance,
undercover seating, a ramp
and a walkway completed the
project.
Avalon Youth Hub
secures Govt grant
The Avalon Youth Hub
has secured $35,940 in
E-waste recycling; and Jovn
Chung-Wright, 17, and Aethan
Chung-Wright, 20, created
vertical micro-green farms
(both won $1250). Kimberly
said any youth between 8-23,
who feel they would benefit by
spending time with someone
who is passionate about what
they do, can sign up anytime.

NSW Government funding
to assist its operator, the
Burdekin Association, with
the delivery of its scheduled
Podcast Project in 2020.
Established in 2018, the
Avalon Youth Hub provides
access to a broad range of
youth support services in
one convenient location.
Local MP Rob Stokes said:

community and provides
sustained and holistic
support opportunities.
This grant provides an
important opportunity to
increase discussion in our
community about local
youth issues and the many
support services available –
sometimes it’s necessary to
try different ways to reach
and connect with young
