Avalon Shopping Night
Remember when preparing for Christmas
was a pleasure not a chore? How anticipation
grew with every present bought and
every ingredient planned? This year marks
a return to the excitement of Christmas as
the retailers of Avalon Village unite to host
a late-night shopping event from 5-8pm
on Thursday December 19.
In response to community calls for
more cheer, more atmosphere and more
convenience, the shop owners, cafes and
restaurants are working together to give
locals and visitors every reason to avoid
going way down ‘south’.
Avalon Shopping Night is the highlight
of activities already underway in the Village,
an evening for the whole family as
the streets will be alive with music, and
almost every store and dining outlet open
– many with special offers and hospitality.
There will also be champagne and a free
gift-wrapping station!
“When we first started telling customers
and friends what we were planning, the
response was overwhelmingly positive.
Many people prefer a local shopping
experience because they are buying from
members of their community,” said Madeleine
Petersen, owner of Avalon Uncovered,
and Avalon Palm Beach Chamber of
Commerce Committee Member for Retail.
“And once Belinda, from Salty Avalon,
and Libby, from Beachside Bookshop and
I started asking other retailers to join in
extending their trading hours for one
evening, we were delighted that everyone
wanted to get involved. It’s more reason
for our community to choose us for their
Christmas present shopping. Plus, we
couldn’t be more happy with the decorations
the Council has installed this year as
a result of local demand... it’s really starting
to feel like Christmas in the Village,”
she added.
