The S.C. Battaglia Memorial Winter Garden Library, 805

E. Plant St., Winter Garden, hosts WhizKids: Finger Knit

Toys for children ages 10-12. Attendees create colorful

toys with their hands, using upcycled fabric and yarn to

create plush butterflies, mice, snakes and more. Time:

Dec. 7 — Science Saturday

As part of its Science Saturday, the Education Center at

Oakland Nature Preserve, 747 Machete Trail, Oakland,

hosts Insect Safari, led by entomologist Christy LeDuc.

Attendees learn about different native insects of Florida.

Participants are advised to bring a reusable water bottle

and wear closed-toed shoes and weather-appropriate

clothing. Bug nets and containers are provided. Space is

limited, so register in advance. Time: 10 a.m.-noon. Cost:

hosts Canine Extravaganza, the nation’s largest celebration

of dogs, including the 2019 AKC National

Championship competition, a meet-and-play with more

than 150 dog breeds, the Beagle Brigade demonstration,

specialized vendors, a dog diving competition,
