Hydroslide open longer at Halswell

Pool have led to its outdoor
hydroslide being open for longer
on Friday nights.
The city council has adjusted
starting and finishing times
for staff members working at
the outdoor pool to allow the
hydroslide to remain open until
8pm on Fridays.

hydroslide was
still closing
early on Fridays
when the rest
of the pool was
open later.

Before the changes were made,
while the swimming pool closed
at 9pm on Friday nights, the
hydroslide still closed at 6pm.
Longer hours at the pool are
currently being trialled following
pressure from the community.
Mr Moore said following
contacting the city council they
resolved the issue within a couple
of days.

“This will be a great low-cost
option for a Friday night outing
for families but it just wouldn’t
be the same without the hydroslide,”
he said.

staff members operating the pool
meaning it will not affect the
hours or incur further costs.
From Monday to Thursday the
pool is open from 6.30am until
7pm, while on Friday it will open
from 6.30am until 9pm, and on
Saturday and Sunday from 10am
until 7pm.
The pool hours were extended
for longer when the community
board decided to increase funding
for the pool from $35,000 to
$50,000 in October.
Between November 16-29, the
pool had 3499 visits.
The pool will remain open
until March 29.

BUS STOPS
A bus passenger shelter could
be installed in Ilam to address
concerns raised by the Disabled
Persons Assembly over the
accessibility of the existing
unmarked bus stop beside 166
Waimairi Rd. City council staff
are proposing to mark the bus
stop and undertake upgrades to
improve accessibility - including
installing a bus shelter. The
Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton
Community Board will also
look at relocating an existing bus
stop on Springs Rd in Hornby,
a bus stop on Halswell Rd, and
Oakridge St in Halswell.
OFF THE GROUND FUND
Nearly $1000 has been granted
to organisations across the
western suburbs over the past
month for various projects. The
Halswell-Hornby-Riccarton
Community Board allocated
$926 to three organisations from
its Off The Ground Fund. The
Ilam Upper Riccarton Residents’
Association received $400 for a
community connections event.
The Royal New Zealand Plunket
Trust received $126 towards
a Halswell Plunket Clinic
children’s Christmas event. Seed
The Change He Kakano Hapai
received $400 to go towards its
Drinkable Rivers Riverhood One
celebration.
