Lincoln’s top junior students<br />

LINCOLN HIGH School has<br />

celebrated the success of its<br />

younger students at its junior<br />

prize-giving.<br />

Thelma Hewitt award (for<br />

all-round achievement): Lauren<br />

Hooper, year 9. Lauren gained<br />

distinction awards in dance, english,<br />

maths and science and was<br />

first equal in health and physical<br />

education.<br />

Norman Hewitt award (for<br />

all-round achievement in year<br />

10): Gideon Welford. He was first<br />

in french, mathematics and music<br />

and first equal in social studies.<br />

Gideon also played for the school’s<br />

first XI cricket and hockey teams<br />

and was a member of the percussion<br />

ensemble this year.<br />

Fitzgerald Cup (excellence<br />

year 9): Mikal Van Heerden. Mikal<br />

gained distinctions in english,<br />

maths and social studies, and was<br />

first equal in health and physical<br />

education.<br />

Fitzgerald Cup (for excellence<br />

in year 10): Gideon Welford.<br />

School Council Cup (for involvement<br />

in the school given to<br />

a year 9 or 10 boy): Kyle Bratley.<br />

This year he has played futsal and<br />

basketball and competed at the<br />

Canterbury secondary schools<br />

athletics championships.<br />

School Council Award (for<br />

involvement in school given to a<br />

year 9 or 10 girl): Sarah McDougall.<br />

She has been involved in a<br />

wide variety of performing arts<br />

and sport at the school this year<br />

and competed at the Canterbury<br />

secondary schools athletics<br />

championships.<br />

Overton Cup (for junior service):<br />

Rayhan Satriawan. For his<br />

involvment in kapahaka where<br />

he often takes a leadership role<br />

including organising and running<br />

practices.<br />

school values in year 9):<br />

Brady Blanchard and Eva Nyhan<br />

Tikanga award (for demonstrating<br />

school values in year<br />

10): Luke Chapman and Maya<br />
