Parents and guardians play crucial roles in their
children’s lives. They are responsible for showing their
adolescences the right path to follow. This role they can
play, by taking bold steps to shield the kids from health
problems. In fulfilling this important task, parents and
guardians need to take a collaborative approach instead
of authoritative when dealing with adolescents.
Having in mind that many adolescents are unaware of
the dangers associated with their unwanted behaviours,
the WHO has established Global Standards for quality
health care service aimed at helping adolescents to
take care of their lives during this dangerous period.
That includes community support, adolescent health
literacy, and adolescence participation. Others are
provider’s competencies, facility characteristics, equity
and non-discrimination and standard Data and quality
improvement.
To minimize putting the lives of adolescences in
danger, we all must put our heads together, to achieve
a better result. That involves contributions from
adolescences, parents, guardians, government and even
non-governmental organizations. Two heads, they say,
are better than one.
