LIFESTYLE BLOCK owners look like<br />
they are taking the fire risk in the district<br />
seriously (see page 1).<br />
More than 200 people attended a meeting<br />
at the weekend organised by fire chiefs,<br />
police and Civil Defence.<br />
It was aimed at telling lifestyle block owners – particularly<br />
those new to the district and those who come from an urban<br />
background – how quickly fire can get out of control.<br />
More importantly, they were told how they can help stop fires<br />
from becoming major problems.<br />
When the big nor’westers come next month there will be the<br />
usual serious issues for firefighters.<br />
Remember the big blaze a few years ago, when large areas of<br />
Prebbleton and Lincoln were threatened?<br />
Time to be careful.<br />
