Hello people, the dark winterymornings and early evenings are coming to a close aswe openly welcome the clocks going forward and newseason trends blooming into our high streets.The interior design industry is buzzing with freshideas, one of which is the latest bathroom interiortrends for 2020. Yes, the somewhat underrated roomof the house, which often becomes our destination forsanctuary. Whether, its calm or energising opting forbold through colours, tiles or taps is the way forward.Think terrazzo, black and brass, supersize mirrors orblush tones. The bathroom is taking centre stage, andisn’t looking likely to be subtle about it.I don’t have anywhere to store my things,and I find my space is so cluttered. How can Imake the most from my room?Address your mess! Yes, that’s right clutter is lookingto make a comeback - luckily for you! Now there’smethod in the madness when it comes to displayingyour things, to avoid them looking unruly. Consideropen shelving, where you organise your books toadd colour to your space, or opt for low shelving toadd accessories to the top and inside. Ottomans withstorage units, which double up as an extra seat, oreven open shelving to act as a room divide betweentwo spaces, which happens to have your collection ofsnow globes strategically placed. Don’t be shy withstorage solutions; just ensure what and how you’redisplaying is considered.I love black, but my partner is scared I willdarken the room. He isn’t keen but I think it’sclassic. How can we work this out?Compromise is a key to any relationship. Stronglyapplied with interior decision making too; blackis a dominant colour, but done correctly can addbig impact and create a lasting impression. Forcompromise, consider adding black accessories,a large piece of furniture in black or even blacktrimmings to soft furnishings. In order to have a blackand white scheme, it doesn’t mean the walls need tobe black. Balance the black with the secondary colourand hopefully this will help create the scheme you’reboth looking for.I am designing a bedroom for my three-yearoldand have seen a very busy wallpaperwhich I love. It’s full of colourful animals butwhat colour do I paint the other walls? Wouldbright yellow be too much with a busy paper?I feel rooms need only a few focal points in orderto make them still the focus of a space. It is a littledifficult without seeing the paper, but I think if thepaper is already packed with pattern and colour, youmay want to consider a more subtle wall colour inorder to ensure nothing is taking over the paper.
