Education Talk with Tohoku
University's Student
On February 25, 2020 a special guest
from Tohoku University named Clifford
D. Leo shared to Sec-JC students his
experience being a foreign student and
gave students insights on how they can
prepare for studying abroad particularly
in Japan.
He encouraged them to join student
clubs and organizations to give them
better opportunity to socialize and self
development. Besides that, he also gave
tips on living in Japan and how one can
easily adjust to a new environment.

Primary English Teacher Training
Ms. Darlina and Ms. Anna participated
in the Primary English Teacher Training
sponsored and supported by Cambridge
University Press and Mentari Books on
February 15,2020 at Menara Peninsula
Hotel, Jakarta.
Mr. Kurt Garner,a Senior Teacher at a
private English Language Course in
Jakarta, equipped the teachers with the
knowledge on Developing Competency
in the Classroom and Feedback for
Moving Forward. In the first session,
he associated the Cambridge Six Life
Competencies with the three foundation
layers of the framework such as;
Emotional Development, Digital Literacy,
and Discipline Knowledge.
Teachers and educational leaders
from various schools in Indonesia
actively engaged in the two sessions.
He provided examples of Can Do
Statements which are descriptions of
what learners can be expected to do for
each competency by the end of the stage
of the learning journey.
These Can Do Statements will vary in
their suitability for learners in different
contexts, and so are provided as a
starting point in the development of a
curriculum, programme or assessment
system. Moreover, he emphasized that
these life competencies are already
embedded into many of our English
lessons.
