SAHIH BUKHARI VOLUME 6 > BOOK 60: PROPHETIC COMMENTARY ON THE QUR'AN (TAFSEER OF THE PROPHET (PBUH))<br />

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 80:<br />

Narrated Abu Huraira:<br />

The Verse:--"You (true Muslims) are the best of peoples ever raised up for mankind." means, the<br />

best of peoples for the people, as you bring them with chains on their necks till they embrace Islam.<br />

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 81:<br />

Narrated Jabir bin 'Abdullah:<br />

The Verse:--"When two parties from among you were about to lose heart, but Allah was their Pro-<br />

tector," (3.122) was revealed concerning us, and we were the two parties, i.e. Banu Haritha and Banu<br />

Salama, and we do not wish (that it had not been revealed) or I would not have been pleased (if it<br />

had not been revealed), for Allah says:--"...Allah was their Protector."<br />

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 82:<br />

Narrated Salim's father:<br />

That he heard Allah's Apostle on raising his head from the bowing in the last Rak'a in the Fajr<br />

prayer, saying, "O Allah, curse such-and-such person and such-and-such person, and such-and-<br />

such person," after saying, "Allah hears him who sends his praises to Him, O our Lord, all praise is for<br />

you." So Allah revealed:--"Not for you (O Muhammad) (but for Allah) is the decision, verily they are<br />

indeed wrongdoers." (3.128)<br />

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 83:<br />

Narrated Abu Huraira:<br />

Whenever Allah's Apostle intended to invoke evil upon somebody or invoke good upon somebody,<br />

he used to invoke (Allah after bowing (in the prayer). Sometimes after saying, "Allah hears him who<br />

sends his praises to Him, all praise is for You, O our Lord," he would say, "O Allah. Save Al-Walid bin<br />

Al-Walid and Salama bin Hisham, and 'Aiyash bin Abu Rabi'a. O Allah! Inflict Your Severe Torture<br />

on Mudar (tribe) and strike them with (famine) years like the years of Joseph." The Prophet used to<br />

say in a loud voice, and he also used to say in some of his Fajr prayers, "O Allah! Curse so-and-so<br />

and so-and-so." naming some of the Arab tribes till Allah revealed:--"Not for you (O Muhammad)<br />

(but for Allah) is the decision." (3.128)<br />

Volume 6, Book 60, Number 84:<br />

Narrated Al-Bara bin Azib:<br />
