Studbook - NEWSLooking backto 2019Looking back to 2019, theTrakehner breed worldwideshowcased the versatility of thebreed with victories at the highestlevel. Looking ahead to the NewYear, the focus of many of thosetop competitors will be the TokyoOlympics. We expect to see JessicaVon Bredow-Werndl on the Germanteam with her incredible mare TSFDalera BB (Easy Game x Handryk).This winter has already seen thepair record victory at the StuttgartWorld Cup qualifier posting anincredible 88.44% score.Also looking a very strong candidatefor Olympic selection for the USA iseventer Boyd Martin and Tsetserleg(Windfall x Buddenbrock) havingrounded off 2019 with the goldmedal in the Pan American games.Boyd has spoken publicly of hislove of the Trakehner breed as theultimate event horse, combiningblood, athleticism and great heart.It is likely the pair will be aimingfor the 5 star at Kentucky in Aprilwhere they came a close second in2019.On home soil, Horse and Houndnominated Sonnar Murray Brownand his 13 year old geldingErlentanz (Latimer x Benz) asones to watch for 2020. On theirfirst outing together since Sonnartook back the reins from CharlotteDujardin, they convincingly wonthe Grand Prix at Hartpury with74.4%. They will be really pushingfor a team place at Tokyo andcertainly will be representing GreatBritain at international competitionthrough the year.The Trakehners UK committeeare already making plans for the2020 season. Sadly the annualshow is not yet attracting a largeenough volume of entries to coverwww.trakehners.uk.comthe costs of venue hire and flyingover an international judge fromthe Verband. Therefore in 2020there will be a regional tour toallow mare and foal inspectionsto take place whilst minimisingthe distance members will needto travel their horses. Full detailsof the tour dates will be availableon our FaceBook page and on thewebsite in due course. If anyonehas a colt or stallion they wish toput forward for stallion licensing,then please get in contact sowe can make the appropriatearrangements.We will also have graders availableto attend some dates on theElite Foal Tour or the Futurity ifanyone is considering taking theirTrakehner foal to either event andwould like a studbook evaluation.Please get in contact if there arespecific dates at either of theseevents that you are planning ontaking a Trakehner foal to.There are encouraging signs thatbreeders are actively looking forTrakehner mares to add to theirbreeding herd and that many arelooking at breeding pure breds fromthose mares. As a small studbook itis important that we keep breedingand reminding competitors that theTrakehner is their perfect optionfor sport.
