It’s difficult to believe<br />
that we’re closing in on<br />
the end of <strong>2019</strong>, it only<br />
seems like yesterday<br />
when I was writing the<br />
introduction to the<br />
2018/19 <strong>catalogue</strong>.<br />
Well, here we are<br />
approaching <strong>2020</strong>, and<br />
your latest edition!<br />
In the last year<br />
Tommy’s <strong>War</strong> has<br />
gone from strengthto-strength<br />
with more<br />
British figures as well as<br />
the first United States<br />
releases in the very<br />
popular Belleau Wood<br />
set which you can see<br />
on pages 12 and 13.<br />
I believe Tommy’s <strong>War</strong><br />
is now the most<br />
comprehensive range<br />
of World <strong>War</strong> One<br />
subjects which cover a<br />
diverse range of<br />
nationalities and<br />
personalities. But I’m<br />

not stopping there<br />
and you’ll be pleased<br />
to know that plans for<br />
<strong>2020</strong> are well underway.<br />
Indeed, <strong>2020</strong> promises<br />
to be a big year for<br />
Tommy’s <strong>War</strong> with the<br />
World Expo making it’s<br />
way to Europe and<br />
Veldhoven in The<br />
Netherlands, usually<br />
the home of Scale<br />
Model Challenge. I<br />
hope to be able to exhibit<br />
at the show and I<br />
look forward to seeing<br />
many of you there.<br />

The major change you’ll<br />

that the Collector Club<br />
pauses for a year and<br />
there won’t be a new<br />
one for <strong>2020</strong>. However,<br />

the <strong>2019</strong> Collectors Club<br />
or you renew or join as<br />
a new member before<br />
then end of <strong>2019</strong> then<br />
your 20% discount will<br />
apply until 31st<br />
December <strong>2020</strong>.<br />

offered rudimentary protection from gas but was claustrophobic and uncomfortable. A football is<br />

TW32024, Private, 1/7th Lancashire Fusilier, Cape Helles 1915 remembers the British involvement<br />
at Gallipoli this figure shows one of the Territorial battalions of the East Lancashire Division as they<br />
landed at Cape Helles in the Dardanelles in 1915. Following the exploits of the 1st Battalion and<br />
their ‘six VC’s before breakfast’ action the ‘terriers’ performed well throughout the campaign.<br />

The Battle for Belleau Wood - 1918<br />

By June 1918 the German Spring Offensive had been halted and the Allied forces, bolstered with<br />
the arrival of the army of the United States of America had began to fight back. The latest in our<br />
‘specials’ series focusses on the ensuing battles between the German Army and the US Marine<br />
Corps in Belleau Wood which took place through in Belleau Wood .<br />
The eight figures when combined are designed to show a pitched battle between the US and<br />
German forces and is inspired by the wonderful Peter Dennis illustration in the Osprey Campaign<br />
Series book Chateau Thierry and Belleau Wood by David Bonk.<br />

The Action at Nery<br />
A set released in November 2013, this has proved to be<br />
a massive success with sales far exceeding<br />
projections. Designed to show a particular moment in<br />
time, this set has captured the imagination of<br />
modellers throughout the world and has been<br />
acclaimed by the modelling press.<br />
The set features a superb replica of the Ordnance<br />
QF 13 pounder, QF gun limber and 4 figures which<br />
build in to a detailed diorama of this famous action.<br />
Christmas Truce<br />
This special set of two figures commemorates the 100th<br />
anniversary of World <strong>War</strong> One by recreating<br />
one of the most poignant episodes of the war when<br />
both sides unofficially stopped fighting over<br />
Christmas. These figures show a British Private of the 1st<br />
Battalion Royal <strong>War</strong>wickshire Regiment and<br />
Private soldier of the German army shaking hands in no<br />
mans land, symbolic of that short truce that<br />
was sadly not to last.<br />

Gassed is a six figure set, with diorama base, that remembers all those that suffered the effects of<br />
gas in World <strong>War</strong> One. A truly horrific weapon used by all sides, gas not only affected those in the<br />
trenches physically but mentally as well.<br />
This magnificent set of figures, sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi and cast in detailed grey resin is inspired<br />
by the American painter John Singer Sargent who originally painted the image in 1919 (the painting is<br />
still owned by the Imperial <strong>War</strong> Museum). The set comes in a great quality gift box and also includes a<br />
small leaflet with the background to Gassed and a postcard commemorating all those victims of gas.<br />
Walking Wounded<br />

Walking Wounded depicts a Private of the Royal Army Medical Corps leading a wounded<br />
Guardsman of the 2nd Battalion Coldstream Guards to the rear.<br />
This set of two figures remembers the bravery of the men of the RAMC who performed above<br />
and beyond the call of duty throughout the war in multiple theatres of conflict.<br />
The figures are sculpted by Nino Pizzichemi and the box art is by Alex Varela, and as the medics<br />
hand is sculpted on the Guardsman’s arm the figures are only available as a set of two.<br />
