The aptly named
floral gift shop, Mrs
Leaf and Mrs Petal,
opened last
October. For the
last 14 years
owners Jackie and Simone have owned the
horticultural business Natural Gardeners
where they designed, built and maintained
private gardens throughout the East Midlands.
“It was a privilege to work for our regular
clientele. However, with the unavoidable event
of maturing years we had to make a change,
thus we decided to embrace the new
challenge of a flower and gift shop.”
Jackie and Simone have over 45 years
experience between them within the
horticultural industry. Simone has worked in
large commercial plant nurseries through to
award winning independent garden centres.
Jackie qualified at Rease Heath College as a
landscape designer some 20 years ago, and
also has experience in sports turf and
woodland management. She has also
managed specialist plant centres before
setting up Natural Gardeners.

“We are continuing to offer horticultural advice
from planting containers to full blown garden
and border design. We have a small selection
of houseplants and when in season there will
be a choice of herbaceous perennials.”
The shop offers Maileg soft toys and Nutscene
gardening sundries. There is a selection of
Weaver Green throws, blankets and bags
which are made from recycled plastic bottles.
A greeting card selection is from Nottingham
based company, The Art File, together with
recycled wrapping paper from Re-wrapped.
Fresh cut flowers arrive at least twice weekly
including when possible British grown
seasonal flowers. Flowers can be purchased
by the stem or can be arranged from standard
hand tied arrangements to Hat Box
presentations. Flower arrangements are all
bespoke and custom made to customers’
preferences and great pride is taken in making
customers feel part of the process.
They also offer a unique town delivery service
using their re-conditioned post office bike to
help cut down on their carbon footprint.
