52Make do and mend?The Sewing Box which issituated at the MeltonMarket on Scalford Road,celebrated its first year inbusiness last month.Owner, Yvonne Hunt, hasmany years of sewingexperience and originally worked in a ladies’clothing factory in Bourne. As she explains,“Before I started the Sewing Box, I was workingin a clothing alteration shop for someone else,but I have always wanted to be my own boss.”A large number of Yvonne’s customers wantstraight forward hems taking up, trousersshortening, waist bands taken in and zipsreplacing. Sometimes this can be done whileyou wait. Rather than always buying new,Yvonne can offer a valuable service eitherrepairing, restoring or even re-vamping yourclothes.
