Trust aims to combat
social isolation by taking
less mobile people on outings
in its wheelchair accessible
minibuses with friendly and
talented volunteers to drive the
buses, push wheelchairs and
lend an arm or an ear to make
the clients’ day enjoyable.
Set up in 2012, Kendall & Wall now has more than 300 regular clients
living in a 25 mile radius of Lichfield. Twenty five volunteers, many of
them retired nurses, doctors and carers, look after clients who quickly
become friends.
A day out could involve a theatre or canal boat trip, or a stately home
visit, and usually includes a pub meal, plus lots of conversation and happy
memories.
Do you have some time to spare to volunteer? If you can talk to
people and want to help Kendall & Wall can teach you to manage a
wheelchair or drive a minibus.

Make a Difference
in 2020!

Recently the lovely Cali was the 2,500th hound to find a loving
home by Greyhound Trust’s Hall Green branch. Cali celebrated
her retirement by wearing a fetching tiara to mark the occasion!
We know this cheeky girl will have a fabulous new life with her new
owners, Sadie and Josh.
Hall Green homed just short of 200 dogs in 2019 and we’d like to find
even more homes in 2020. But 28 of the 40 hounds in our kennels are
black. Did you know that black dogs wait longer to be adopted than their
lighter pals? No one really knows why. They are just as loyal and loving
as any other dog and, with proper care, their coats shine and gleam in
the sunshine. So why are there so many black hounds? Many years ago a
black top champion racer called Top Honcho became a very sought after
stud dog, siring thousands of puppies worldwide and so black genes are
dominant – this explains the increase in black greyhounds.
If your New Year’s resolution is to make a difference, remember, black
is beautiful in the greyhound world. Adopting one greyhound won’t
change the world but the world will surely change for that one black
greyhound.
