THE REVIEW of the
District Plan has been
pushed out until later
this year because of
Covid-19.
The plan was expected
to be publicly notified in
April but that will now not
be happening.
In a report the district
council said: “We are still
working through the implications
of the Covid-19
pandemic to determine
how long this delay may
be but we hope to be able
to notify the Plan later this
year.
“We will update the
public as soon as we have
more information,’’ it
said.
A district council
spokesman said it is unclear
at this stage whether
the delay will have an

Some submissions support rates rise
FEEDBACK: A proposal to freeze rates, which
help fund projects such as Rolleston’s new library
and community centre (Te Ara Atea), has received
support from the community. ​
Not all of the submissions
have been in favour
of maintaining rates at the
current level.
In Malvern community
board chairman John
Morten’s submission he
said the board supports the
option to seek to reduce
the planned 3.5 per cent
increase.
District Plan review delayed
impact on the cost of the
project.
In December, Selwyn
Times reported that the
budget for this financial
year is expected to
be exceeded by about
$400,000 in order to
deliver the proposed
District Plan for
notification in May.
The budget for the
project for the 2019/20
financial year is $805,000.
