Dairy women’s
support group
Dairy Women’s Network is a kiwi notfor-profit
organisation, built on their
famous can-do attitude. The network’s
focus is to create occasions for women to
get off-farm and connect with others.
The network develops, facilitates and
promotes events and initiatives for
members to acquire industry-based
knowledge and soft skills. Their webinars,
workshops and events have been
developed by women in the industry to
suit busy lifestyles, so they understand
their member’s situation as a farmer or
professional, a wife and a mother. While
the group is a Women’s Network, one
of its core values is inclusivity, and they
welcome men too!
Events are run all around the country
and the nationwide network of members
is supported by volunteer regional leaders
in 35 different regional groups, who
coordinate activities and events in each
region. Workshop topics range from
on-farm skills such as herd reproduction,
calf rearing, shed hygiene and mastitis
management to personal development
such as creating a positive culture on the
farm and human resources. The Dairy
Women’s Network also covers businessfocused
topics, such as payroll and farm
accommodation. They make sure that all
their workshops are delivered in a fun and
interactive style, and a supportive learning
environment is created.
Dairy Women’s Network tries to record
sessions as webinars so they can build
up year-round content for members. The
conference is usually held once a year in
different locations around the country and
has recently moved the 2020 conference
online. The conference gives dairy
women a chance to learn, connect and
inspire each other, and is also where the
recipients of two awards are announced:
Fonterra Dairy Woman of the Year and
Regional Leader of the Year.
