______________________________________________LETTER" I feel like these few months are the closest we aregoing to get to experiencing childhood again "NOTE________________________________________________________________________________________EDITOR'SMy experience of lockdown has been a positive one.The opportunity to slow down and take time to dothose things that I don’t usually have the time orheadspace to do feels like letting out a natural sigh.I feel like these few months are the closest we aregoing to get to experiencing childhood again. Growingup, I experienced life before the internet and it was agreat time. Reading books, crafting, trips to museumsand watching movies were some of the activities thatenriched daily life. But the technological developmentof our modern age favours screen time over real timeand this has been a great loss to me. Having theopportunity to question my routines and my habits;the components which make up my life as I currentlyknow it, has allowed me to imagine a healthier, moresatisfying framework to follow. And it feels likechildhood!Now I say this knowing full well that many peoplehave not had the same experience of lockdown.Demanding jobs, homeschooling children andfinancial struggles are only some of the challengeshouseholds have been facing. But for some, stuck athome on furlough, it has opened up the opportunityto think and plot a new normal. What was it that Iwas doing before that didn’t serve me? Delete andinsert something that makes me feel happy / bringsme joy. That idea I pushed to the back of my mind, isit time to pull it out and explore its potential?I hope you have found a fresh sense of purpose duringthis period of isolation, something new or somethingold which you had forgotten you loved.In this issue, you will find plenty of ideas to bring youpurpose and pleasure!@harrietmjsmith@brush.magHarriet5
