Competing in the U16s at the Nationals in Gisborne, Sam<br />
came second in the diamond, ninth in the board race,<br />
18th in the surf race and was a semifinalist on the ski. He won<br />
the Southern Region U16 diamond title and picked up silver in<br />
the board race and bronze in the surf race.
