NI Executive
> The Executive will tackle climate change head on with a strategy
to address the immediate and longer term impacts of climate
change
> The Executive will introduce legislation and targets for reducing
carbon emissions in line with the Paris Climate Change Accord.
> The parties recognise the need for a coordinated and strategic
approach to the challenge of climate change within the
Programme for Government. Actions and interventions will be
required across a wide range of areas in order to address both
the immediate and longer term impacts of climate change in a
fair and just way.
> To this end:
• The Executive’s strategies to reduce carbon emissions will be
reviewed in light of the Paris Climate Change Accord and the
climate crisis.
• A new Energy Strategy will set ambitious targets and actions
for a fair and just transition to a zero carbon society.
