Mavs & Mochas: Orange Cones Edition
by Pat Carmichael
photos provided by Landon Stogner & Scott Sheetz
Porsche, orange cone, Porsche, orange cone,
Porsche, repeat - the little orange cones marshaling a
reminder to space apart; to stay socially distancing!! It
was an appreciated theme that repeated for 160+ cars
covering pretty much the entire parking lot in front of
Weir’s Furniture. A great socially-distanced turnout on
a beautiful Saturday morning!!
The PCA Mavericks under the Park Place tent and in
the shadow of a brand new Porsche Macan were moved
to be a charitable group as well, collecting almost $1,200
for breast cancer (awesomeness!!) AND donating 725
pounds of food along with $250 in cash (to be matched
by the PCA Mavericks club!!!) donations to the Good
Samaritan North Texas
Food Bank in Garland.
In fact there was so
much food donated we
had to enlist the help
of the On Site Tires
truck; these guys are
Slipstream advertisers
and participants in
Mavs & Mochas, and
volunteered to help deliver to the food bank! Way to
go guys!!
Did I mention it was a great morning? It was a great
sunny morning. Good to see good friends and family
along with just being out and about. Bumping fists,
elbows, or just waving and trying to recognize everyone
behind their masks - it was good to just be seen and, what
it’s all about, seeing all the Porsche cars lined up between
the little orange cones!! See y’all next month!!
Thank you very much for greeting me into your special organization of so many special, professional, and
caring people in the PCA/Mavericks. So many members came by the Light Ivory 1965 356C coupe today.
I only answered questions, so professional that they waited until another Mav to come up and ask me more.
When this happens so extemporaneously for almost 1.5 hours, you know it was a great day! Members came up and I asked them what they drove
to the event. Most had late model +6 figure machines, but to say the 356’s were maybe their favorites through the years. Being a novice here,
I can only say that today was one of my best encounters of the Porsche Kind…… Guess we are all out of this world, or should be.
