and service providers anda<br />

significant international<br />

support basewhose<br />

commitments wouldensure<br />

the success of the project.<br />

Aggressive project<br />

timelinesfor the project<br />

havenow been pushed back<br />

by around 12 months.<br />

Instead of the original<br />

opening date of mid 2021, the<br />

complex is now scheduled to<br />

openbyJuly 2022.<br />

Construction is earmarked<br />

to start in May nextyear and<br />

will follow on from work<br />

finalising investments,<br />

grants,plans and consents.<br />

Golf resort goes under<br />

hammer, sells for $6.6m<br />

Competitionatthe CBRE<br />

auction for thegolf resort in<br />

theCanterbury highcountry<br />

was high, with the property<br />

attracting strong interest<br />

from buyers.<br />

The course was put on the<br />

market afterthe death of<br />

multi­millionaire Japanese<br />

investor Hiroshi Hasegawa,<br />

who purchased it in 2012<br />

after approval from the<br />

OverseasInvestment Office.<br />

Hasegawa was 59 when he<br />

died in April.<br />

He had turned the resort<br />

into aglobally recognised<br />

luxury golf andadventure<br />

destination.<br />

demonstrates that investors<br />

have ongoing appetite for<br />

high­quality assets,” said Mr<br />

Rookes.<br />

“As golf courses don’tcome<br />

to the market very often, this<br />

is atrophy asset for the new<br />

ownerand we wish them all<br />

the verybest,” added Mr<br />

The par 72 course is 6406m<br />

longand is describedas<br />

havingaScottishhighland<br />

feel. It offers achoiceoffour<br />

tees on each hole and<br />

incorporates10lakes and<br />

over 60 bunkers.<br />

It wasdesignedbythe late<br />

SidPuddicombe, a<br />

celebrated Canadian golf<br />

course architect.<br />

On the northern side of the<br />

Rakaia River,the resort<br />

features extensive<br />

landscaping, with tussock<br />

plantings, lakesand stands<br />

of woodland andbush.<br />

Along, 1.8km riverfront<br />

boundary borders the river,<br />

withterracedlawns<br />

providing excellentviews of<br />

famouswaterway.<br />

Panoramic views of Mt Hutt<br />

and surrounding mountains<br />

its latest funding round.<br />
