Raffled quilt raises $1134 for breast cancer charity
Apatchwork quilt has raised $1134 for
the Breast Cancer Foundation New
Zealand.
The labour of love, handmade by
members of apatchwork group based at
the Quilters Quarters store in Rangiora,
was raffled, with alocal Rangiora
woman winning it.
The group made it as achallenge over
the last 12 months, store owner Pauline
Forrest said.
Each member contributed patches,
month by month, until there were
enough for one of the members to sew
them all together.
Pauline says everybody knows
somebody who has been affected by
breast cancer, and the quilters wanted
to do something to help support
research.
She has been making quilts for about
30 years, and says it is ahobby which
she absolutely loves.
‘‘It’s ahealthy addiction.’’
