LOCAL TALENT
SA designer fashion at affordable prices ...
local really is stylish this season
Compiled by: KYM ARGO
Exclusive collections by talented young
local fashion designers. Affordable
prices. Limited editions. Tick tick, and
tick. The new Pick n Pay Clothing
launch of designer clothing in
collaboration with South African artists
ticks all the right boxes. Small and
select - each of the ranges has only
around seven items - the idea is make
designer clothing more accessible to
all South Africans, at great prices (and
they are ... the first garments we saw
ranged from R279,99 to R399,99). Each
of the designers will be mentored
by Gavin Rajan - itself a major career
highlight, and this new collaboration
will give some of our many talented
local designers, who don’t have
a platform to grow their brands
commercially, a way to promote their
ranges to a large audience. The first
collection was by the uber talented
Julia Buchanan, this one is from
29-year-old Katekani Moreku, which
captures his perspective of a united
South African heritage, and was
inspired by he many local cultures he’s
encounter moving across provinces.
Next up will be an exclusive, limited
edition range by Gavin Rajah. We
can’t wait. The ranges are available
in selected PnP Clothing stores, and
online. Details: picknpayclothing.co.za
