To our Portland Post Team, 2011-2012 Directory | President’s Message President’s Message I share the belief that our society and professional engineering organizations like ours play an extremely important role as our Nation's infrastructure ages and may serve as that voice with the American public that we need to grow competent and able scientists and engineers from our youth here at home to take on daunting challenges over the next hundred years. In spite of the difficult financial environment, we must make the necessary investments in our infrastructure in order to remain a secure and economically prosperous nation and to continue to enjoy the freedoms we cherish so dearly. The Portland Post of Society of American Military Engineers stands ready to answer that call here in the northwest region of our great country and is dedicated to our National Defense. I encourage each member, military, civilian and corporate, to get engaged in "your" Post to help us make a difference in reaching our vision and goals. Increasing our membership, reaching out to the next generation of engineers and scientists and developing an exciting monthly program are just a few of our goals that need everyone's involvement. Everyone is a SAME recruiter. I challenge each of you to share your pride in the Society wherever you go. As you interact with others across our region, be ready to quickly convey the positive and constructive benefits of being part of SAME.
