NATIONAL SECURITY AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE
• Support national security engineering related priorities and programs.
OBJECTIVES ACTIONS
- Increase awareness of national security engineering
priorities as they apply to local issues.
EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- Establish an active Post Readiness Committee.
- Hold one general membership meeting with a
presentation on a national security or emergency
response issue
• Promote, enhance and reinforce the professional and technical
competence of present and future Post members through outreach,
training and continuing education programs.
OBJECTIVES ACTIONS
- Support Continuing Professional Competency
through programs and issue Professional
Development Hours or Continuing Education Units.
- Promote engineering education and appreciation of
military engineering to high school and college
students.
- Continue support for new OCASE college scholarship
program.
- Continue to monitor endowed scholarship at OSU.
- Host presentations on emerging technologies, design
and construction, environmental sustainability and
stewardship, facility and infrastructure management,
information management and water resources
planning and management.
Demonstrate commitment to young members by
getting them involved in Post activities/leadership.
- Develop interesting activities that attract and retain
young members.
- Sponsor at least one interactive event with a local
school.
- Conduct two professional development seminars to
award PDH credit to Oregon licensed members.
- Participate in SAME training seminar for incoming
Post President.
- Participate and sponsor student Engineering Day
activities with ASCE/NSPE.
- Award one or more scholarships to high school or
college students.
- Host presentations at monthly meetings on topics
related to the Post objectives.
Conduct survey of sustaining member firms to
determine their young employees professional needs
and interests.
- Solicit federal agency and sustaining member
executive support to encourage and permit young
members time to participate in SAME activities.
- Increase Young Member membership by 5 members.
- Have at least two Young Members involved in Post
Leadership as Board of Directors, Post Officers or
Committee Members.
