NATIONAL SECURITY AND EMERGENCY RESPONSE<br />
• Support national security engineering related priorities and programs.<br />
OBJECTIVES ACTIONS<br />
- Increase awareness <strong>of</strong> national security engineering<br />
priorities as they apply to local issues.<br />
EDUCATION AND TRAINING<br />
- Establish an active Post Readiness Committee.<br />
- Hold one general membership meeting with a<br />
presentation on a national security or emergency<br />
response issue<br />
• Promote, enhance and reinforce the pr<strong>of</strong>essional and technical<br />
competence <strong>of</strong> present and future Post members through outreach,<br />
training and continuing education programs.<br />
OBJECTIVES ACTIONS<br />
- Support Continuing Pr<strong>of</strong>essional Competency<br />
through programs and issue Pr<strong>of</strong>essional<br />
Development Hours or Continuing Education Units.<br />
- Promote engineering education and appreciation <strong>of</strong><br />
military engineering to high school and college<br />
students.<br />
- Continue support for new OCASE college scholarship<br />
program.<br />
- Continue to monitor endowed scholarship at OSU.<br />
- Host presentations on emerging technologies, design<br />
and construction, environmental sustainability and<br />
stewardship, facility and infrastructure management,<br />
information management and water resources<br />
planning and management.<br />
Demonstrate commitment to young members by<br />
getting them involved in Post activities/leadership.<br />
- Develop interesting activities that attract and retain<br />
young members.<br />
- Sponsor at least one interactive event with a local<br />
school.<br />
- Conduct two pr<strong>of</strong>essional development seminars to<br />
award PDH credit to Oregon licensed members.<br />
- Participate in SAME training seminar for incoming<br />
Post President.<br />
- Participate and sponsor student Engineering Day<br />
activities with ASCE/NSPE.<br />
- Award one or more scholarships to high school or<br />
college students.<br />
- Host presentations at monthly meetings on topics<br />
related to the Post objectives.<br />
Conduct survey <strong>of</strong> sustaining member firms to<br />
determine their young employees pr<strong>of</strong>essional needs<br />
and interests.<br />
- Solicit federal agency and sustaining member<br />
executive support to encourage and permit young<br />
members time to participate in SAME activities.<br />
- Increase Young Member membership by 5 members.<br />
- Have at least two Young Members involved in Post<br />
Leadership as Board <strong>of</strong> Directors, Post Officers or<br />
Committee Members.<br />
