Sharp shooters<br />

Sharp shooters from Mount Hutt College have taken out the Aoraki<br />

Competition ahead of local rivals from <strong>Ashburton</strong> College. The Year<br />

9/10 target shooting team of students Amelia Swan, Hunter Lill, Jessie<br />

Lill and Jess Heaven beat two <strong>Ashburton</strong> College teams to take out<br />

first place.<br />

Signs against violence<br />

The Zonta Club of <strong>Ashburton</strong> has<br />

begun 16 daysofactionwith a<br />

back­of­the­toilet­doorcampaign<br />

to raise awareness that violence<br />

against women is still aserious<br />

problem.<br />

Members have been<br />

approaching <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />

businesses andasking<br />

permissiontoplace posters<br />

showingsupport information for<br />

victimsofviolence on the back of<br />

women’s toilet doors.<br />

Zonta spokeswoman Robin<br />

Kilworth said the group useda<br />

grant from the <strong>Ashburton</strong>Trust to<br />

print off the posters to put on the<br />

toilet doors. Toilets were seen as<br />

asafe place to take aphoto of the<br />

informationfor future use if<br />

needed.<br />

The campaign has the backing<br />

of other businessesand<br />

organisations. Gluyas Motors had<br />

loaned avehicle that was sitting<br />

at the corner of RacecourseRoad<br />
