The Ohoka Rugby Club’s popular annualfundraiser was heldatthe Mandeville SportsCentre last Sunday, with 130 stalls selling arange of goods, including food, wooden works, icecream,clothing,gardenutensils, toys, jewellery, cosmetics and plants. There was also livemusic throughout the day fromMandevillesingerEllen Walker, whose stage nameisEllen Rose; SharonMiller fromRangiora, and The Wax Birds,comprising Pete and JoannaGreen from Oxford. OrganiserDee Bigelow said she was pleased withthe attendance. ‘‘It was agreat day, especiallyatthe start when the weather was calmer and peoplewere streaming in. ‘‘I am pleased the weather heldoff and Covid stayed away.’’ Although Dee was thrilled by the success of this year’s event, she is already lookingforward to planningfor next year —the festival’s 10th anniversary. She spends manyhours organising the festival. She saysshe is passionate about the festival becauseithelps the communityand provides aplatform for local crafts people to sell their products. ‘‘Personally,Isee this eventgrowing into astrong platform to advertise and promote our stallholders,food vendors, Stylish pair ...
