Actress, singer, songwriter, activist and
philanthropist, all the attributes that define
the beautiful Nigerian native Lisa Yaro. It was
indeed a delight to have a chat with her and
discovering the exciting side of her life story.
Lisa arrived in the United States when she
was only about 10 years of age, like any
traditional African or Caribbean parent, they
already have determined what your future
will look like…Lawyer, Doctor or Engineer..
pick one!!! Surprisingly, Lisa had her heart
set on being a doctor " Going through school,
it was weird because I was the nerd but I was
the jock, and I was also the class clown.” Lisa’s
personality stood out and made her
unforgettable wherever she went.
Though being gifted intellectually, she was
an athlete that excelled in track, basketball,
and volleyball. The latter landed her a
scholarship to play in college, unfortunately
due to her tearing her ACL and shattering her
meniscus, her scholarship was on the line. “.
It's interesting though, God never does things
without a reason.” When one door closes a
better one opens.
Though she has been writing at a very young
age, She found her love for the arts through
poetry, she would consequently sit at
numerous studio sessions where she fell in
love with music and decided she would
pursue this field to become a songwriter. The
minute she decided to pursue music, though
she was received with a little resistance when
she broke the news to her family, she felt it
was the best decision she could have ever
taken. Being a woman of faith, this allowed
her to start an organization called Industry
for God benefiting the less fortunate.
