COMMONWEALTH CAMPUS • Students in grades 7-9 will depart from side cafeteria gate. • Students in grades 10-12 will depart from the front gate. • Parents or guardians are not allowed to enter the premises. • If for any special reason, parents or guardians need to enter the premises, they must call the administration office. If administration approves the entering, temperature will be taken, and masks must be worn at all times. • Co-curricular activities may be modified, rescheduled, or eliminated as public health priorities or governmental mandates dictate. STAYING HEALTHY ON CAMPUS DAILY HEALTH SCREENING/MEASURES TEMPERATURE The temperature of anyone entering campus, including students, teachers and staff, will be taken with a no-touch infrared thermometer at the school entrance every day. • Anyone with temperatures greater than 37.5 C (99.5 F) will be permitted to wait at an appropriate distance for 2 minutes for a secondary temperature reading. • Those with temperatures greater than 37.5 C (99.5 F) or who have symptoms of cough, difficulty breathing, or other COVID-19 symptoms will not be permitted on campus. Please refer to Protocols for Illness on Campus – page 18. • COVID-19 Symptoms: CPS will activate its Protocols for Illness on Campus guidelines (page 18) if a student, teacher, or staff member presents COVID-19 symptoms, or has been in contact with an infected person. • Please refer to the Protocols for Illness on Campus for additional guidelines. MANDATORY USE OF MASKS • Face shields and/or masks must be worn by staff and students at all times on campus (except while eating). • CPS will provide to all students and personnel one reusable face mask. However, everyone is responsible for bringing their own mask and/or face shield from home. • CPS will teach and reinforce the purpose and use of face masks, including: o Face masks are meant to protect other people in case the wearer is unknowingly infected but does not have symptoms. o Everyone will be frequently reminded not to touch the face covering and to wash their hands frequently. o Face masks should not be placed on: 14
§ Children younger than 2 years old § Anyone who has trouble breathing or is unconscious § Anyone who is incapacitated or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance § If unable to wear a face mask, a face shield must be used instead HANDWASHING/SANITIZING • Hand sanitizer will be provided immediately at entry and in all classrooms and throughout CPS premises, Additional hand washing and sanitizer stations will be installed on each campus. • If soap and water are not readily available, hand sanitizer that contains at least 70% alcohol can be used (for staff and older children who can safely use hand sanitizer). • We will teach and reinforce the importance of proper hand hygiene, including: o o Hand washing with soap and water for at least 20 seconds regularly The use of hand sanitizer when soap/water is not readily available o After using sanitizer for three times, handwashing with soap and water for 20 seconds is recommended. • Staff and students are to cover coughs and sneezes with an elbow or tissue. Used tissues must be thrown in the trash and hands washed immediately with soap and water for at least 20 seconds. • Portable water stations have been added to both campuses to enable frequent handwashing. AIR QUALITY • All classrooms are equipped with high capacity air purifiers • Rooms are aired out with doors/windows opened between classes PHYSICAL DISTANCING • We will install physical barriers such as acrylic partitions and stanchions in all service counters (e.g. reception, libraries, accounts receivable, accounts payable, health stations etc.) • We will also provide physical guides/barriers and signage (e.g. arrows, tapes, instructional signs) on floors, stairways, walls and hallways, to ensure that proper distance is maintained and to identify “one-way” routes in hallways and stairways. • There is a limit of a maximum of one person in the use of the elevator. At Parkville, students using the elevator must be accompanied by an adult. • As mentioned before, school access is limited to students, faculty, staff, and approved service providers. Please refer to Campus Arrival and Departure procedures. • Parents are only going to be received at school by appointment only. In case of an emergency, parents or guardians need to contact the administration. 15
