Colouring competition to celebrate farmers supporting farmers<br />

MidCanterbury Rural SupportTrustisrunninga<br />

primary schoolcolouring competition to celebrate<br />

farmers supporting farmers,and raiseawareness about<br />

the organisation.<br />

It is for children aged fiveto12yearsold, in three age<br />

group categories,and has a$50 prize foreach winning<br />

agegroup pupil and their school.<br />

All eligible children are encouraged to attend.<br />

Rural Support TrustMid Canterburyco­ordinator<br />

Frances Beeston said the competition was to celebrate<br />

thework done by Rural Support Trust which useslocal,<br />

rural people familiarwithissues to helpothers in all<br />

kinds of situations get through their currentchallenges.<br />

There is aMid Canterburybased team workingona<br />

roster system to manthe trust’s free phone line which<br />

is available 24/7.<br />

Ms Beeston hasdeliveredthe colouring competition<br />

forms to all primary schools around the district.<br />

Completedentries canbehanded into eachschool<br />

andclose on <strong>February</strong> 26.<br />

Zonta female art award finalists chosen<br />

The finalists have been selected<br />

for this year’s Zonta <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />

Female Art Awards (ZAFAA),<br />

with the 92 entries nowwhittled<br />

downto 43.<br />

Some 24 of the finalists<br />

qualify for the premier award<br />

and the rest are eligible for the<br />

young generationaward.<br />

The finalists have been<br />

selectedbyjudges for an<br />

exhibition which runs from<br />

March 6to April 6.<br />

status of female visual artists<br />

andto acknowledge the<br />

contribution women make to<br />

art.<br />
