Almost framing the enormous yellow cube at the centre, the
entire design is monochromatic and loaded with straight
lines, hard angles and cubic shapes. Every aspect is on a
giant scale, not just the yellow cube. The mirrors in front of
the stylists’ chairs that appear to be resting against the walls
stretch from floor to ceiling. Huge circular domes diffuse
light from a great height over the individual cutting seats
which, although maintaining an incredibly futuristic look,
might not be the most comfortable of perches. The cube
itself is an ingenious disguise for the washing zone; a bank of
sinks and a black, leather bench that replaces the customary
seating are tucked out of sight.
White tiles outlined with black grout cover the floor and
extend half way up the walls; the remainder of the perimeter
and ceiling are white. Black, linear track lighting carves up
the overhead area and reflects the flooring pattern below.
The store front is constructed from three enormous, fullheight,
glass panes that extend the entire width of the shop
and allow uninterrupted views across this artistic concept.
Studio Svetti has created a distinctive, theatrical interior
for its clients and an equally remarkable workplace that
will inspire staff as they style. It is an undeniably chic
environment and is the last, but by no means least, of our
innovative and exciting project reviews for this edition.
