The lav mandates FCIC to use, to the maximum extent possible, committeee/asaociatione of producers, private insurance companies and the reeourcee, data, boards, and committees of federal agencies in carrying out the gales, servicing, and administrative functions of the crop insurance program. FCIC providea reinsurance to insurers including private insurance companies, reinsurers of euch companiee, or state or local governments that insure agricultural producers under a FCIC approved plan. In 1987, all-risk crop fneurance was available in over 3,000 counties vith policies covering 44 different commodities. The statutory provision providing for the appointment and compensation of an advisory committee vae repealed by Public Law 96-365 effective September 26, 1980. Other budgetary requirements include the l etimated financial condition and operations for the current and folloving fiscal years and results of operations for the prior fiscal year. The budget shall also provide for emergencies and contingencies. GAO engaged the CPA firm of Peat Mar-wick Uain and Co. to audit fiscal year 1987.
