Case IH has introduced its
Advanced Farming Systems
(AFS) Connect technology
to the flagship of its tractor
range, the Steiger series
Case IH will revamp its Steiger tractor series for Australian
and New Zealand farmers, with a new operating system,
redesigned cab and the next-generation connectivity
technologies of its AFS Connect systems.
While the company rolled out similar upgrades to its Magnum
series last year, the new Steigers will benefit from additional
horsepower that local product manager Jason Wood says will
help propel the range into the future.
Powered by anywhere between 400–600 horsepower
(298–447kW), depending on the model, the Case IH Steigers,
are available in wheeled, Quadtrac and Rowtrac configurations
as well as two transmission options – a 16-speed PowerDrive
Powershift option, or Continuously Variable Transmission
(CVTDrive) for more simple operations.
“The power, durability and efficiency that have been the
hallmarks of the Steiger range for more than 60 years remain the
same, but these latest technology enhancements only amplify its
appeal to the customer looking for a tractor that can tackle the
biggest and most demanding of tasks,” says Wood.
“Like the AFS Connect Magnum, this new Steiger represents
the future direction for the entire Case IH tractor line-up.”
AFS Connect uses GPS and cellular technology to send and
receive up-to-the-minute information on equipment provided by
the AFS Vision Pro operating system, AFS Pro 1200 camera and
viewing package and AFS Vector Pro Receiver.
“From the design upgrades and enhancements to the suite of
new technology driving new levels of efficiency and productivity,
the AFS Connect Steiger delivers the connectivity that enables
producers to control and oversee their operation from not only
the tractor cab, but from home, in the shed, or wherever they
may be,” says Wood.
The redesigned cab boasts an ergonomic armrest with eight
control buttons, new heating, ventilation and air conditioning,
leather seats and 29 power connectors and diagnostic ports to
cater for any devices required to operate the machine.
Wood says the AFS system and cab improvements are a
game changer for the Steiger compared to previous iterations
of the range.
“The enhanced level of connectivity in the Steiger sets these
tractors apart, providing more support features, reducing
downtime and maximising productivity,” says Wood.
“From the remote service support that allows dealers to
remotely identify maintenance and service needs, to the ability
for business owners and managers to monitor operations –
from outside the cab – these AFS Connect tractors are gamechangers
for our industry.”
The new Case IH Steiger range is available across Australia and
New Zealand now.

New Holland’s first 2021 updates to its MyPLM Connect
Farm desktop platform and mobile app will help users
better manage and monitor their equipment, the company says.
The improved MyPLM Connect Farm interface makes field
information such as activity layers, scouting observations and
soil zone data accessible at the tap of a button.
The update also features a raft of additions including new
support for prescriptions and tillage as well as new layer
visualisations and machine utilisation maps that New Holland
says are proof of its focus on user productivity.
New Holland will also provide additional support for users
of its large square baler range, with the update giving them
the option to view imported data and display activity layers
on the app, as well as mapping the specific location of balers in
the field.
Information such as wet-dry weight, moisture percentage,
density, capacity and flakes per bale are all displayed within the
app by clicking on pins affixed to specific bales in the field.
New Holland Connected Services’ European product manager,
Alessio Quatraro says the update will give users access to more
information and data to make their farm experience easier.
“Connectivity is becoming an integral part of a farmer’s
operation, as they are increasingly relying on their machines to
collect data, just like we do with our smartphones in our daily
life,” Quatraro says.
“At New Holland, we are providing our customers with the most
intuitive solutions to get the job done easily. Since we integrated
the AgDNA cloud-based Farm Management Information System
now known as PLM Connect into MyPLM, we have continued to
improve and extend data visualisation and compatibility.
“The improvement to the MyPLM Connect portal is another
step forward in providing our customers with the best tools to
monitor and visualise the data collected in the field through their
connected machines.”
New Holland customers are able to create a free MyPLM
account and the app is available for download on either Android
or Apple IOS stores for free.
