ii. To monitor the progress made in research projects sanctioned to the faculty<br />

members and research scientists from time to time.<br />

iii. To encourage and motivate the research scholars to secure fellowship from the<br />

UGC, CSIR, ICAR, ICMR, DST and other funding agencies. To train them to get<br />

qualified in the NET, JRF, GATE exams.<br />

iv. To coordinate with faculty members for MoUs from prestigious Universities/ Centers/<br />

Organizations both in the country and abroad.<br />

Director, Human Resource Development (Prof. V. Chandramouliswar Rao)<br />

i. Coordinating between the <strong>University</strong> and the Heads of the Institutions relating to<br />

the maintenance and updating the centralized data bank pertaining to the faculty<br />

and non-teaching staff of the <strong>University</strong> Constituent Colleges including the P.G.<br />

Centre, Kavali.<br />

ii. Proposals relating to the training needs and up-dating of skills of personnel (Teaching<br />

& Non-Teaching).<br />

iii. Recreational opportunities to the personnel like planning half-yearly social meets<br />

with the Vice-Chancellor providing personal audience and scope for social<br />

interaction.<br />

iv. Any other work that may be entrusted by the Vice-Chancellor from time to time.<br />

Director, Hostel Affairs<br />

i. To coordinate between the three campus hostels.<br />

ii. To maintain, uniformity in respect of policy decision covering the campus hostels in<br />

respect of hostel charges collected from boarders and infrastructural development.<br />

iii. Director, Hostel Affairs shall be the member of the hostel purchase committees of all<br />

the hostels of the constituent colleges. The wardens will bring to the notice of the<br />

Director, Hostel Affairs any problems if his coordination is required. Director, Hostel<br />

Affairs will be the convener of the wardens council headed by the Rector.<br />

iv. To attend to disciplinary problems involving students and/or hostel staff.<br />

v. To maintain peace in the campus hostels by effective intervention between the<br />

boarders and college / university authorities whenever there is disturbance.<br />

vi. To keep in continuous contact with the wardens / chief wardens to promote a<br />

healthy academic and social life in the campus.<br />

vii. To see that transparency is followed in accounts and expenditure chart for every<br />

month is displayed in the notice board at the messes.<br />

viii. To encourage sports, games and cultural activities in the hostels.<br />

The Director, Hostel Affairs will make use of the office of S.V.U.C. Hostel for women,<br />

for his correspondence, meetings, if any, with the help of the warden, S.V.U.C. Hostel for<br />

women.<br />

SERVICES ON THE CAMPUS<br />

NATIONAL SERVICE SCHEME (NSS)<br />

<strong>Sri</strong> <strong>Venkateswara</strong> <strong>University</strong> carries rightly the pride for being one of the pioneering<br />

institutions in implementing the N.S.S. in the country. It was introduced during 1969-70.<br />

Starting with 300 volunteers, it has grown into a mighty programme with about 40,000<br />

Volunteers for regular NSS and special camping programmes.<br />

Objectives<br />

✦ To promote personality development among students through community<br />

service.<br />

✦ To instil a sense of discipline among students<br />

✦ To make students physically fit for nation building activities.<br />

✦ To direct students energies to right causes.<br />

✦ To acquire leadership qualities and democratic attitude.<br />

✦ To practice National integration.<br />

NSS Centre<br />

The NSS Bureau and NSS Seminar Hall are located at NSS Bhavan near the<br />

Administration Building (Neelam Sanjeeva Reddy Bhavan).<br />

NSS Programme Officers<br />

260 NSS Programme Officers are there in Engineering, Degree<br />

and Junior Colleges of S.V. <strong>University</strong> area.<br />

Admission<br />

Students who wish to join NSS should apply to the Programme Officer concerned in<br />

their respetive Colleges.<br />

Activity<br />

NSS volunteers will have the following activity<br />

❃ 120 hours of service during an academic year<br />

❃ They have to work on Sundays and evenings to complete this target service.<br />

❃ One special camp in a year during vacation.<br />

❃ Volunteers are provided with refreshment whenever they work.<br />
