Junior golf lessons offered at Reedy Meadow<br />

LYNNFIELD — PGA golf professional<br />

Eddie Whalley Jr. will once again<br />

be offering junior golf lessons at Reedy<br />

Meadow Golf Course this summer.<br />

Several sessions, featuring three<br />

classes per week, are available for juniors<br />

second grade and up. Instruction<br />

will be tailored to students’ abilities.<br />

Individual and group sessions for adults<br />

are also available.<br />

Junior sessions will be held from 9-11<br />

a.m. daily on Tuesdays, Wednesdays and<br />

Thursdays on the following dates: June<br />

22-24, June 29-July 1, July 6-8, July<br />

13-15, July 20-22, July 27-29, Aug. 3-5,<br />

Aug. 10-12, Aug. 17-19 and Aug. 24-26.<br />

Advance registration is required to<br />

reserve a spot. Players are encouraged<br />

to register at least one week prior to the<br />

first day of the desired session, as the<br />

number of participants will be limited<br />

to ensure players receive as much individual<br />

attention as possible. Golf clubs<br />

can be provided, if necessary, on a limited<br />

basis.<br />

The cost of each session is $150 per<br />

player. Payment can be made by cash,<br />

check payable to Eddie Whalley Jr. or<br />

LYNNFIELD — The<br />

Lynnfield For Love Race Amity<br />

Day Committee will celebrate<br />

Race Amity Day on Sunday,<br />

June 13, 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m.,<br />

on the Common (Main Street<br />

at Summer Street) with a scavenger<br />

hunt, story walk, readaloud<br />

and more activities.<br />

At the end of 2015, the<br />

Massachusetts Legislature<br />

passed the Race Amity Day Bill<br />

(H 2745, Chapter 163 of Acts of<br />

2015).<br />

This first-in-the-nation legislation<br />

was signed into law and<br />

celebrated in a Statehouse ceremony<br />

with Gov. Charlie Baker<br />

in February 2016. The bill was<br />

the outgrowth of work at the<br />

National Center for Race Amity<br />

at Wheelock College Boston.<br />

The Race Amity Day Act<br />

states:<br />

“The governor shall annually<br />

issue a proclamation setting<br />

apart the second Sunday<br />

in June as Massachusetts Race<br />

Amity Day to recognize that the<br />

people of the commonwealth<br />

are its greatest asset, to recognize<br />

that the commonwealth<br />

is comprised of multicultural,<br />

multiethnic multiracial citizens,<br />

and to encourage friendship,<br />

collegiality, civility, respect<br />
