this year, after it went into<br />

liquidation in June 2020.<br />

Theresort hosted it’s first art<br />

and craft marketonSunday<br />

with around 19 stall holders<br />

taking part.<br />

be held on the first Sunday each<br />

Lighting spectacle for 100th<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong> electricity lines<br />

company EA Networks will<br />

mark its 100th anniversary with<br />

athree­day lighting spectacle<br />

in the <strong>Ashburton</strong> Domain.<br />

The co­operative has<br />

partnered with <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />

District Council to stage<br />

<strong>Ashburton</strong> Glow in the Park.<br />

It will run from <strong>August</strong> 27­29<br />

and feature 13 artistic and<br />

interactive light installations,<br />

including athunder tree, water<br />

reflections, glow football,<br />

mirror balls, and an archway of<br />

trusses designed to mimic the<br />

flow of electricity.<br />

EA Networks Chief Executive<br />

Roger Sutton said Glow in the<br />

Park will be aspecial show for<br />

the community.<br />

The free event would be a<br />

spectacular way for the<br />

business to mark 100 years<br />

serving the district.<br />

‘‘The domainwill be<br />

dazzling. We wanttofocus on a<br />

celebration that can involve<br />

the whole communitywith<br />

amazingspecial effects that<br />

people of all ages can enjoy,’’<br />

he said.<br />

The show will start at 6pmon<br />

<strong>August</strong> 27 with adisplay of<br />

fireworksand an official<br />

switching on of the light<br />

installations.<br />

People will be encouraged to<br />

follow atrailoflight features<br />

beginning at the central<br />

domain car park, past the<br />

pond, and along the long lawn,<br />

looping back to the central car<br />

park wherefood vendors will<br />

be set up.<br />

They can also wear white to<br />

make the most of aspecial UV<br />

area.<br />

tell EA Networks’ story,from<br />

its beginnings as the <strong>Ashburton</strong><br />

Electric PowerBoard to the<br />

present day as aprovider of<br />

electricity lines and fibre­optic<br />

cablesfor internet.<br />

On <strong>August</strong> 28 and 29 Glow in<br />

the Park will operatefrom 5.30<br />

pm until 9.30 pm.<br />

Those coming to the show are<br />

encouraged to use apublic car<br />

park available off Grigg Street<br />

near the old tennis courts and<br />

picnicarea.<br />
