Friday 10th September 2021
As you will see the newsletter starts with some excellent news with the announcement that we
feature in the 59 Club Flag Awards this year. It was very much a surprise for us but a very pleasant
one. All areas of the Club have been under pressure to perform with less resources as they were all
asked to save money when and where possible so I am delighted that not only have they done that
but also kept up the levels of service that they provided in the past. There has been the odd pot hole
on this journey but I am very proud of what they have achieved.
59 Club Awards
The 59 Club are the leading mystery shopping survey and analysis
company in the UK. Each year they award bronze, silver and golf flags to
the best performing clubs and I am delighted to say that we have gained
the bronze flag this year.
It is a tremendous achievement for everyone in our team as each area
comes under scrutiny, from the initial booking call to the welcome in the
pro shop, the standard of food and beverage as well as the condition of
the golf courses.
In such trying times it is great to know that our team is still performing to
the highest levels.
Gents Texas Scramble
Sun 12th September
There are still spaces available for teams of 4. You can enter either
via the Scottish golf App or by emailing your teams of 4 to Andrew on
Captain’s Invitational 2022
Friday 20th to Sunday 22nd May - The entry forms will be available on
Monday 23rd September 2021 from 4pm but this year we will operate a
ballot system rather than first come first served so there is no need to be
poised at the keyboard waiting for the clock to tick.
Entries will be open until 9am on Monday 11th October after which we will
conduct the ballot if the event is oversubscribed.
For the dinner we have decided that given the spaces we have compared
to the number of competitors then non golfing partners will not be able to
attend. The event is primarily for members and their guests so we wish to
fill the dinner with the golfers.
As always, this is a fun and social event for members and their guests to
get to meet and make new friends.
Covid 19
Even though we are “Beyond Level 0” of Lockdown you MUST still book
a tee time, check in with the Pro Shop and start from the 1st hole as
Track and Trace remains mandatory for everyone.
Signing in is also still mandatory in the Clubhouse and you can do this
using the NHS Scotland App or by writing your name, phone number and
time of arrival on the sheets provided. Please remember to CHECK OUT/
SIGN OUT when you leave the Clubhouse as failure to do this may result
in you being contacted by the NHS for track and trace purposes if a case
is identified on the day you were in the Clubhouse whether you were in
the building at that time or not.
Match v Nairn (Home)
Sat 23rd October - After the successful match in London against our
As usual it will be a shotgun start at 9.30am followed by lunch (jacket &
tie). If you would like to play please email proshop@royaldornoch.com
Seniors v Ballater
Tuesday 7th September - The Senior Section played Ballater GC Seniors
and managed a 5-3 victory. The course was running, and the visiting
Ballater team were very impressed with the quality of our course and
the greens - big and fast! We will play a return match at Ballater next
year. Our next match is against Tain this Monday 13th September, with
Blairgowrie away on Tuesday 28th September and Brora away on Friday
1st October. If you are interested in taking part email Roger Boyce
Golf Courses
It’s been a good week weather wise with warm temperatures and the odd shower of rain that thankfully came
through the night. The team has been concentrating on the Struie Course fairways and this involved wire raking
then blowing away the debris followed by overseeding and fertilising. We also microtined and rolled the Struie
Course greens and sprayed wetting agent on the tees. On the Championship Course we have topdressed and
brushed the greens and have finished flail collecting the rough.
The Course Manager’s expanded report is posted on the Members Facebook page and on the Newsletter page
of the Members Area of the website.
