Gardens,art and demonstrations at<br />
Leithfieldand beyond on <strong>October</strong>23and<br />
24 will help keep the pages turning at the<br />
LeithfieldLibrary.<br />
The communityowned Leithfield Public<br />
Library is hosting the LeithfieldGarden<br />
tour as afundraiser wherepeople can<br />
stroll through gardens,visit artistsstudios,<br />
indulge in localeateries and enjoy food<br />
put on by localorganisations, while<br />
discovering Leithfield’s history.<br />
It takes in 15 gardens of differentsizes<br />
and styles, and will include<br />
demonstrations of kokedama, livingvases<br />
and bonsai.<br />
The allweather event starts at 10am<br />
each day and runs until 4pm. Maps will be<br />
issued for visitorswhichgive the order of<br />
flow.<br />
Artists include Stargirl, offering a<br />
houseplant and kokedama store,with<br />
kokedamamakingthroughoutthe day.Jax<br />
Pots sells decorativeand functional<br />
ceramics and homewares,while Pure has<br />
oak winebarrel productsand artwork for<br />
the home and garden.Magic Moss has<br />
sphagnum and decorative moss for all your<br />
garden needs, and willgive living vase<br />
demonstrations and tours.<br />
Locally produced soaps and balms will<br />
be available fromShardia MacKintosh,<br />
whileCee Dee Design will have handmade<br />
jewellery, knitted brooches and plants for<br />
sale.Jane Handmade features merino/<br />
alpaca mixed knits beanies, snoods,<br />
headbands and more,whileThe Barn will<br />
offerBlackhills naturalcoloured hand<br />
knittingyarns and aknitwear collection.<br />
Thereare historical homes, and the St<br />
Paul’s AnglicanChurch to viewalong the<br />
way, and the Leithfield Beach Fairy Forest<br />
to explore.<br />
Therewill be toursoffered at Harleston<br />
House, alimestone block homebuilt in<br />
1863 by the Ashworth family. Its gardenhas<br />
been lovingly reestablishedusing plants<br />
of the period when the home was built.<br />
Thereare many surprises, including a<br />
secret garden.<br />
Roses, natives, apotager garden,an<br />
abundance of spring flowers,and mature<br />
trees, and acountry garden are partofthe<br />
tour.<br />
The Sanctuary of Fourviere, agarden<br />
designed to tell the history of the Catholic<br />
Mission in the Pacific willalso be open.<br />
Entryis$25 for adults,seniors $15, kids<br />
under15are free. Tickets are on sale at<br />
